Ya I've just never had a vehicle that burns oil, but I know it's not the end of the world

You have a turbo VW... There's your vehicle that's going to burn oil

That’s pretty negligible. Even new cars burn that much or more off the lot these days. Hell, my LC burned/leaked that much in 500 miles.

I feel spoiled. Neither of mine burn anything, it’s so nice.

My 98 3RZ with 160k miles didn’t burn anything IIRC. Too bad the frame was rusting out or I would’ve kept it.

I’ve heard different opinions on that. Some people insist all the 2UZs are interference.

Opinion would be "the 2UZ feels fast"

Fact would be, VVTI 2UZ are interference engines as that's what Toyota actually states in their literature IE their FSM

I'll side with Toyota on it

But why so many claims that it isn't on non VVTI is crazy

Even though many state that for non VVTI and claim it to be true, I'll just change belts every 80k as needed :D

Needs to stop being warm out here for starters

I'll be changing mine on schedule regardless. Now the thing we are starting to see the rubber damper in the crankshaft pulley separating on rigs that are 25 years with 400,000 miles.

    Not too bad

If you've owned enough Chevy V8s then at one point you've owned one with a wobbly harmonic balancer

I ask cause I wonder if you'd ever do a few small performance mods like exhaust and/or a vvti intake mani swap?

For me I'd have to get the manifold super cheap cause net gains would be minimal but still an upgrade from the metal intake.

I'm probably thinking way aheeeeead but; as things progress between you and the SO, move in together, rent out the other house, and that becomes supplemental income.

If things change later on, get another house and rent that out too.

Definitely a possibility. Can’t do it for a year, but each of us has too much crap to fit it all in one right now anyway:laughing:

Long term, we want out of the city.

Oh for sure, that's why I said as they progress.

Hard part would be finding the right person to rent out to but that's it.

I really like they look of a 100 series, but honestly when I was going up that trail yesterday I wondered if a 6000 lb SUV would make it up. It was pretty tight in some spots too: I wouldn’t have wanted to be much wider.

I’m sure with ATRAC or a rear locker a 100 would’ve made it up, but I like the low COG-feeling of a Tacoma. My 80 felt a little tippy on steep slopes.
