Same, amazing but also terrifying. The speeds are just insane. NASA still rocks U2, it was up the air about a month ago out of the Tampa area over a tropical storm. Hopefully they keep the dragon lady up for a couple more decades. Lockheed was doing some crazy shit in the 50s and 60s. Plenty of good books. Ben Rich's book Skunk works and Kelly Johnson's book, more than my share of it all are really worthy reads.

Can say, I'm pleasantly surprised with their comfort on the GX.

Yeah they will be more than ok for the 4runner, won't be putting it through the ringer like I did the Tacoma the first few years I had it. And I fell victim with the Tacoma to the TW mod bug mentality when I found this place... I'm in no hurry/have no desire to 'keep up with the Jones's this time around with the 4runner.

Just gotta get rid of it's saggy ass when we're camping and tbh I think the suspension on it is probably 20 years old

Saw a 2WD Ford Escape with it's front end buried in mud while running today. Someone had written the local off-road recovery number on the windshield in mud.

If you're not bombing fire roads in a fully loaded truck billies or OME struts are fine... But yeah the TW mod gang definitely makes it seem otherwise :bananadead:

You'd need a sponsor these days. Can't just roll up to the gate with a delivery anymore. I've had a few delivery drivers tell me they aren't comfortable having their truck searched. Usually what we do in those situations is load the pallets into the government pickup and a few personal rigs in an off base parking lot nearby.

In reality we could report the driver to his company because he's supposed to be able to make it through the commercial gate search.

I actually *preferred* Bilstein 5100s in the back of the Tacoma when it was empty.

Only when I put the RTT on and bedrack that the Fox rears felt really nice and controlled.

Hecc, SPC uppers have developed play. I left a message on their phone system. Hopefully they send me a replacement arm or at least some bushings. The damn things are only a year and two months old and I don't daily this truck.

Are they the ones that were offering new ball joints?

Some company was offering free replacements, something about their source providing a bad batch or something.

Yeah but my ball joints are fine. The spherical bearings that they use on the frame side are what went bad. I just hope they do the right thing and offer me an arm. Technically I bought these in mevotec boxing... And RockAuto will give me a full refund for them still but I'd rather not do that since they don't have another one to ship me right now

I don't mind pressing in a new bushing/bearing set if they just send them to me

There are articles saying in 2026 it will be retired but they said that 5 years ago too. But I'm sure a future drone will come knocking eventually. The RQ-4 that was supposed to replace it failed to match the capability and probably will retire soon.

Makes sense. Funny you mention replacement.

Remember that Google Nest I got some 3 months ago?

    Wifi died on it :bananadead:

Shoot. I'm chasing a front end vibe and I didn't even consider the bushings could be shot in mine. I have the older tubular SPCs and put them on 35K ago in 2018. Replaced the ball joints last year before pulling the engine.

The tubular ones with the poly bushings don't go bad that quickly. I'm not saying it's 100% not those but it's probably not those.

Opened up a Google ticket; they're offering replacement.

Just don't want to deal with it just yet (as it only affects being able to control it via voice or phone).

Isn't the phone control one of the biggest features?

I never use it; for me the biggest feature is just asking google to turn on or off the fan, or adjusting the thermostat mainly cause I'll leave my phone on the desk or somewhere versus having it on me.
