1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Had to run home for lunch, Sofia jumped up to say goodbye when I went to leave and Dex said I'm getting in on this.

He gets so freakin jealous if Sofia or Harley come up to me

 

I think the one tv we have is at least 10 years old, maybe more

 

Mine is getting there too from late 2017. But I really don't want to buy another TV, it's already 4k and there isn't hardly any content for that even

I had one of these, good TVs but this and the Toshiba equivalent were 1080i but because of the huge beam sweep horizontal would get pretty fuzzy outside the 4:3 range.

 

I can probably dig up a JVC at work for you if you don't mind it being a DVD combo unit. Actually we probably have some VHS only in the older buildings. We have tons of 32" CRTs too

 

Ya a lot of content caps out at 720p or maybe 1080p on big streaming platforms unless it's a special release lol

My tv growing up was a version of one of these and I miss it. I still prefer 4:3 too. I'm glad manufacturers are slowly getting away from 16:9 laptops as well.

 

I will say, unless it's old content it all comes available in 4K.

Then again we only watch movies and not shows so I can't say anything about shows quality.

It's the 8K TVs that are truly a complete waste, like why? Although it did bring down 4K TVs to stupid low prices where a 55" can run you like $2-300.

 

I don’t miss scratchy volume knobs.

 

You ever have one where the volume would cut in and out during slow turning?

I feel like that's too much resolution, to the point where it becomes less attractive

 

I miss the little doors that hid the buttons.
Someone needs to bring back wooden enclosures for modern televisions.
Fuck it, I might just buy a tv so I can make one.
