1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Appreciate that!

One thing some of the people on FB don't realize is -

1. Details in turquoise often can get lost because of how small they are

2. Sharp edges, specifically those in yellow come off rounded especially if the operator doesn't have his/her stuff dialed in



It's always fun cutting something new and my biggest goal is recreating it as accurately as possible, especially since I drew it over the drawing as the drawing being transferred over as a converted SVG created too many nodes and geometries were irregular.

This ain't work, it's just fun to do.

Switched gears and wrapped up the most incredible plane ever made, period. As to why I popped out so many in such a short time, I prepainted a bunch before I lost the house, so was a lot of assembly and decals. I'm now out of painted parts to work with so gonna be a delay between builds. I did drunk Amazon and have few more models coming... oops!





All that said I do now have an airbrush and paint booth in the new place so I know what I will be learning over the holiday, how to make it all work. I think I may be missing some paint cleaner but I'll find out.

It's a goal to have a hard copy of Sled Driver on my coffee table. I implore you to watch this, it is an amazing story about the plane. If you can't tonight, bookmark it for later, a worthy watch. I put it on as I wrapped up the plane tonight.

Brian passed away earlier this year but he wrote Sled Driver, a book about flying the SR71. Hard copies go for $700 these days... If you're interested in the SR71, then by proximity, "Skunkworks" by Ben Rich and Kelly Johnson's "More than my share of it all" are worth reading.
