I've had this early LS for a few years. I feel like a geriatric when I drive it, but goddamn is it solid after 30 something years. Even has the ultra-classic 90s era gold badging.rElWMpXd.7IQQ6Ogz--(edit).jpg
    Interior is basically new.

I wonder if someday some Internet scholar is going to come across this thread and be amazed at it's activity and spend years dedicated to the study of every post

See that's clean and taken care of

Our resident skeptic needs to be in a new vehicle with warranty; you haven't been here long enough to see the same questions posed 30 different times over the course of a year, later asked on multiple different platforms hoping for different results

    Technically, that's called insanity...

We haven't had a thread clean up in awhile, so that's probably okay

Fun fact, there were companies that came to dealerships to plate the badges. My Dad managed a Toyota Dealership in the 90s and it was common practice where we lived to call in the plating guy because a certain market segment (that's predominant in the region) really thought it adds class and value.

I'm TOTALLY done with new cars.
My wife can keep one for commuting, and such, but even she see the value proposition in a well-maintained, rust-free older car. Heck, last year, I bought an LR Disco 2 as a backup "beater" for hauling the dogs, but it turned out to be an absolute cherry. It's so nice that she's taken it over. Spiritually, it's very close to an 80 Series, but for about 1/3 the price. If it shits the bed bigly, then it will just get tossed.

Sometimes a brown car (in this case Dark Walnut Pearl) looks pretty good with the gold-plated flair.
For a luxo barge from the 90's, I think the LS pulls it off pretty well. Sure, it's dated, but nobody is confusing an ancient Lexus for a modern car.
Heck, your BRP 80 Series would have been a really prime candidate for the gold treatment back in the day, as well.

I believe that over half of all Avalons sold were given the gold treatment.

The first owners of my LS were snowbirds (MA to FL), so it did the I-95 slog 2X per year and then puttered around southern Florida for the winter. Dealer serviced its entire life.
I had to invest in a timing belt job and a few other things, but the car is totally worth it.
