I hope you find something that you can find rewarding. I know that when I step back and look at what I do, it's boring. The work isn't fun. But it turns out I'm kinda good at it, I like the people I work with and what I do contributes to our freedom here in the US. Hopefully you can find a niche that satisfies you in a similar way.
Retirement pace would be generous. Glacial is probably more appropriate.

Probably more accurate too since you can't stop a glacier haha

It really reminds me of driving an overloaded version of my buddy's 02 Duramax truck. If it wasn't a diesel I'd say it needs a shorter axle ratio. Actually a bit like the Land Cruiser too, push the pedal and it's gonna do whatever the fuck it wants on it's own time except the cruiser at hwy speeds could use a 5th gear.

I thought about a shorter axle ratio since it has 3.55 in it, but the problem is I only have 4 gears at my disposal. 65mph is 1700rpm. Sure I could get some more grunt but then I would be spinning that thing way too fast on the interstate. The few times I've had it to 75-80 is kinda funny because you put your foot down and it's like "uhhhh we can't even downshift bro, good luck". Same thing in the hills at like 45mph up a steep grade, 2nd gear can't reach it, and third gear it'll bog down, stuck right between the two. Honestly I think that the 7.3 is limited by the trans more than anything. If it had a 5spd auto it would be much better. When I was shopping it was either great motor and shit trans, or shit motor (6.0) and good trans(5spd). Figured slow and reliable would be the better pick in the long run and neither would do what green truck could in the dirt anyways.

5 speed would help a lot, more gears is awesome on limited power and high power. A beefed, okay not beefed but at least make sure it is working right, 4spd and an extra 10psi and you'd keep up just fine though too and probably not want for a 5spd.

I'm afraid to turn up the wick without having a way to monitor EGTs. I would rather leave it bone stock like it is and complain about it instead. And the reality is, I keep up with traffic no problem, it's just a pig. I'm just happy that it's healthy. Hell, some guys have trouble starting the 7.3 below freezing, but mines always fired up great. 2 cycles of the key and she lights off.

10lbs is nothing on that thing though, EGT should be like a 10 minute install with the dog house off, the turbo exhaust housing is right there in the open.

That would be doable if I had a garage lol

Also side funny story related to the Tacoma, yesterday I was returning to work from a Xmas lunch, boss in front of me at a red light. Of course the moment the light went green I layed on the horn, but then almost got instant karma on the on ramp when I got into boost a bit too quick and had an unexpected Tokyo drift  oops!

That's what it feels like. I have learned to just prepay with that thing as I've hit the shutoff a few times.

I think I want to go find a party tonight. Also, I'm ready for permanent DST.

@CS_AR do you have stock UCAs on your truck with the 880s?

Yep. It looked like somebody had recently replaced the ball joints when I got it so I left them alone. Naturally, I replaced the lowers with new OEMs at the time. I wish I could get the rear locked working. With a little more aggressive tire, I would take it on some of the easier trips around Newton and Logan counties.

I wanna replace the Toytec shocks with 880s and take off the diff drop kit, but I have a feeling I'm gonna get more than I bargained for if I open that can of worms. The bushing is probably shot from the diff drop kit, and I have a feeling my carrier bearing and/or u joint is bad too since I get a clunk when letting off or getting onto the throttle, and a big vibration under 2500 RPM in 2nd gear.
