You have OME 880s in the front? That's pretty much the rake I'm going for with the OME leafs in the rear.

    I think they're 881 or 882. Don't really remember:laughing:

I think unloaded I have about 4.5" of lift in the rear but with a full bed it sits about 3"

I cut the fenders which makes it seem like there's more lift than there is so maybe less

I reckon I should be able to keep at least an inch of lift in the front with the 5100s on the higher setting, even if the 880s are softer than expected. I did wonder if the softer springs would let the front end “wallow” more into holes though and kiss the oil pan on the ground.

Probably not, no. Stiff and soft springs are gonna travel about the same but the ride quality will be different

Yea IK lifts don’t really increase clearance on IFS, so I don’t really see the point in having 3” over 1.5” just to make it handle worse.

Why would the oil pan hit the ground? o_O

Idk if they actually would lol, I just was thinking maybe my stiffer springs keep the center of the truck from settling or drooping over obstacles, which can happen with ifs.

I probably wouldn’t notice the indifference though. From reading threads it seems like the 880s would be best for me, and I could turn the 5100s up a setting if the rake is too much.

If I were in your shoes, I'd completely redo all the suspension components, including bushings and all.

This way you start fresh, versus asking the same question about OME coils all last year and this year; don't want to hear about it next year :luvya:

And you'll know what to expect as there won't be a combination someone hasn't tried already.

You've shown dissatisfaction in your Tacoma many times after you traded your Land Cruiser; why not treat your truck to a few goodies so you enjoy it more?

A can of worms is you constantly asking the same question, pulling your hair out, and doing nothing about it.

A can of worms is creating scenarios you'll never run into such as "will these coils cause my oil pan to hit the ground". You don't even wheel enough to ever have that happen.

A can of worms is talking about new sounds or issues without ever doing anything about it.

If you've got a tumor, avoiding the doctor doesn't make it go away; whatever issues you're ignoring on your truck don't just disappear.

Being that it's your daily, and you miss your 80 series a lot, I'd just put nice new stuff on the Tacoma and you'll enjoy it so much more. Plus having peace of mind that a lot of stuff was replaced.

This is a great point. Learning from my experience, I changed the shocks to 5100s and 880 springs first. It rode like hell. Then as I started replacing ball joints and bushings the ride improved incrementally with each replacement. I never thought that some play in a ball joint would contribute to a bad ride. Then when it came time to refresh the 100 series, I replaced everything in the front suspension. It always had a good ride.

Hell, I had a Prerunner and I enjoyed the shit out of it when I threw on Fox all around and a new leaf pack.

I noticed a huge improvement in steering when I replaced the old worn out bushings in my LCAs with some Whitelines.

Mostly, I didn't have as much "slop" in my steering and felt much more precise. But I also replaced the LBJs at the same time so I think it was a combination of both?

Pretty sure that made the biggest difference in "feel" equal to new suspension. Then again I did new bushings, shocks, etc all within months of owning it so..

I’d think my tired rack is probably the biggest problem with my steering feel, that and the stock UCAs with the lift. Idk about bushings. The alignment shop told me they all looked good, but that was back in February.
