I'm having a hard time deciding if I wanna put a big lump sum on something or just increase payments

Also have no idea where to start with taxes this year, adulting is hard

 

There are crazy people that enjoy and specialize in doing that for you, it's worth the money if your taxes are more complicated

Otherwise just TurboTax it

So happy my wife is in accounting. She loves doing our taxes.

 

Not that bad especially if you work the same job for the whole year, and it's especially easy if that job was your only job for that year. I use the h&R block software you pay 50 bucks for it but it pretty much pays for itself in how easy it makes things

 

Turbo tax makes it easy. If you only have the one W-2 especially. Don’t forget you can take the “standard deduction” OR itemize deductions and claim interest you paid on your mortgage all year as well as student loans etc. I’m gonna itemize since I’ll get to deduct more with my mortgage interest alone than the standard deductions. Plus there’s a Buncha other tax credits/deductions you can get. TurboTax is usually good about asking a lot of questions in order to get you the best return possible. I used it the past 5 years or so since I used to be 1099 before my big boy job. Claimed A LOT of shit when I was 1099 lol

I was 1099 till May but only made a couple grand during school. But yes, house interest, I didn't pay anything on school last year tuition wise. I'm sure being a student will help

 

No more house interest to deduct for a few years now. A previous year IRA contribution really helps to lower my taxable amount. I usually pay some federal and get back a refund from state. It's been a wash for the past few years. As long as I can avoid a net payout then I'm happy.

 

Ideal start to a morning, waiting for AAA because I'm pretty sure the Corolla chucked the timing belt
