I'm pretty sure once the algorithm determines you're old you only get far side comics and people you don't know complaining that people don't want to work anymore.

I made the mistake of checking out that dude's original "should I pay for these repairs" thread yesterday.
Which included a couple of hints about what he was up to.... And because I do enjoy some interwebz sleuthing... the situation isn't just that his friend's wife and kids were murdered...
Turns out his friend was a drug trafficker (allegedly) who offed his baby mama and their two kids (allegedly) and then offed himself (allegedly). And was also suspected of murdering another woman previously (allegedly).
And now this guy is collecting the contents of their household and trying to drag it all halfway across canuckistan in a massively-overloaded rig.
    FFS.

I'm in the Langmuir group, and used to be in two or three different CNC groups but left them because every other post is "CAN ANYONE TURN THIS PICTURE INTO A CUT FILE" or "CAN SOMEONE FIX THIS"

Really it's just a bunch of computer illiterate boomers that have the expendable income to buy into CNC and expected a push-to-start setup right out of the box

In other words, I don't recommend any and you'll be better off asking any questions on here or in the Anything Welding section here

My brother bought a 2024 BRZ today. He has officer flight pay so he’ll be alright. I encouraged a GR Corolla but they all go for ~$50K and 86s were under heavy dealer markups as well. Is buying new dumb? I'd never do it but he's less mechanically inclined and a slightly used ones weren't a great deal either.

If you're going to go in debt at least go in debt for a cool car.... Too bad he passed on the Corolla GR... Now he's in debt and has an 86 :/

He's thankfully not in debt though. Dude hasn't paid for anything in years since he's been in a backed up training pipeline with his meals/housing 100% covered. He also worked through high school/college and kept driving the free Tundra I fixed up for him.

He didn't want a non-Toyota (even though I don't consider an 86/BRZ a full Toyota) and Toyota dealer markups are insane. An A90 GR Supra isn't worth what the ~$60K they're asking for used. A GR Corolla definitely isn't a $50K+ car after all the stupid dealer addons they hit you with. He likes the BRZ, learned manual on his friend's Mustang in a parking lot, and only spent $35K. Maybe the car market will calm down in a few years and he can reaccess.

Edit: Oh and every Toyota dealer he tried (multiple in Texas and a multiple in Nevada) would hit him with a finders fee. What is a finders fee? No one found it for him, he just walked up to their stupid Toyota dealership. The "market adjustment" fees were absurd as well.

I learned a lot more simply messing with CAD on late nights on my own than I ever did in any of the groups I was in

You're mechanically inclined, so you're already ahead of the curve as most issues stem from people not knowing how to troubleshoot basic shit for example -

*Why won't my torch fire (it's like a car that won't turn on, do you have spark or fuel?). So naturally you'd check for air, work clamp, your consumables, and further.

*My THC isn't working. There are built-in tools for diagnosing such as checking for voltage monitoring and more. Simple continuity tests for checking physical components if the built-in test software fails.

*Why isn't my metal being cut all the way through? Moisture is the biggest enemy; pull your consumables and check your electrode for signs of this. Confirm cut height, etc.

It's really basic ass stuff, much more than one would think.

If he likes it that's good enough. That's not a car worth being in debt over so good on him.

The guy's asking where he should shift the weight.... uh, the answer is to the fucking curb.
JFC, he needs to install a L/R split brakes just to steer.
