I'm surprised he even drives a Tacoma. He seems more suited to a cheaply lifted Dodge Ram with bald mud tires and worn out tie rods.

HVAC has nothing to do with it, all of the HVAC controls on 1st gens are easy to remove. The air bag isn't bad if you own a socket set and don't mind laying your head on the carpet, comes right out.

Don't worry your head is screwed on right. A robust QMS is not cheap and usually the first thing to crumble in the chain of success. You have to understand boeings history to understand why they operate the way they do, there are some good books on it going back to when McDonald Douglas bought Boeing with Boeings own money. In general terms, CEOs came in over the last 40 years, stripped the company down to boost stock price, cashed out and moved on, leaving Boeing as an empty shell of a company whose culture is driven by short term stock price, not the long term sustainment. Each QMS will have its cracks, and they've found them here, especially from the fact that they had on an onsite vendor using a different QMS than Boeing so different checks and balances were going on but didn't align.

That's what it sounded like - the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. Honestly it's amazing they still managed to develop the incredible 787 Dreamliner in spite of all the bean counters at the top always wanting to pump and dump the stock.

I have a feeling Airbus is gonna leave Boeing in the dust in the coming years. It seems like Europe doesn't have the quite the same level of destructive shareholder supremacy that companies do here.

I don't think Boeing is frightened, it's basically a two competitor market neither one is going anywhere. And the US military is unlikely to contract Airbus much.

It's not amazing, it is a good airplane and is proving itself. It makess you wonder how compromised it is though compared to what it could be.

Boeing is still successful as an A&D contractor so they aren't going anywhere. Many blunders over the last decade though that are hurting them. The KC-46, the MCAS, and now QMS failure. They can fix it, but don't know if they want to
