Why would they just throw them out instead of selling them? There must be so much demand with all the mini trucks out there. I didn’t think OEMs were in the business of throwing money away..

I watched the African Cup final yesterday between Cote D’Ivoire and Nigeria. The football game was good too though.

Yea I mean it would’ve been easier to just sell them wholesale to a rebuilder or something. I also wonder why they don’t keep making the Tacoma frames with all the confusing demand from the salt belt.

To be fair...its a lot easier to throw something away than sell it, or do just about anything else with it. Trashing something is a pretty low effort activity.

Idk, it doesn’t seem like sound business practice to me. Rebuilders like Yota1 can barely keep up with demand. I bet they would’ve sold in a week if they’d listed them. Besides, they’re engines, not tomatoes. It’s not like they had an expiration date.

Well I was surprised when he said that. Usually Toyota is the best OEM at supporting their older stuff, especially the trucks since so many people still use them overseas.

If that was a corporate decision you can bet someone did the math on profit margins between trashing versus selling them separately or how long they'd need to keep them in inventory for it to be profitable.
Besides, it wasn't like they were just going to list them on Craigslist.
I think its a bummer too, but I'm not under the impression that any manufacturer is going to just do something for the good of it and because people like old trucks.

shit I remember reading about all the stuff the military just dumped into the ocean after WWII ended, not to mention all the planes that were unfortunately scrapped.
