It's a welcoming group for misfits that want to prove that they are better than normal people, it's not surprising that such a group exists. I don't think they truly believe it but the attention, whether good or bad, is worth it to feel as part of something.

one of the interviews I had was supporting a guy thru solving a problem that apparently is holding the whole production line up....

they made a pretty good offer, but not good enough to deal with that level of bullshit.

 

what a nightmare lol, that's some major assclownery.

Had one company give me a take home that was to write a parser for some aircraft black box log file from a given hundred page data specification... that one definitely felt like free labor

this reminded me of one time, when I was getting out of freelancing and looking for a full-time gig...this company responded to my application by asking if instead, I would consider coming in one day a week for a month to train a different hire on how to do the job. Basically they wanted to hire some kid right out of school (or about that age) for min wage but wanted them to have the skillset of someone with more experience. told me all I needed to know about that place
