But yea realistically I'm not buying anything. I'll be lucky if I'm able to keep my truck at this rate. I feel like if I sell it, I'd just spend that money on other random stuff though.

So mine was supposed to be temporary. I sold my 100 and the next best thing in my mind was a 1st gen. Searched a while, found one, figured I'd bring it up to speed and then move on in a few years when I padded the account. That was 2017, and I did spend about two (plus) years figuring I'd let it go because I wanted another wagon, and I kept looking for alternatives, but then around year three (and change) it clicked in and I knew I wasn't going to sell it.
Maybe adding a shell would help, or some comfier seats, different suspension or tires, etc. Point being, sometimes it just takes a little time. Meanwhile you're not making any payments or spending on big repairs or using up hours you won't get back looking for replacements, and you have a generally reliable truck thats capable of a lot. One day, looking back, you might be happy you kept it.
Grass is always greener etc., etc.

Yea I’d mainly just want the relative security and comfort of a wagon. I never felt great sleeping in the bed of the Tacoma. What if a bear or net head comes in to your camp in the middle of the night? In a wagon, you can just hop in the seat and drive away. I suppose there’s less interior to worry about getting dirty or windows to break, etc in a pickup tho.

Its just a scenario we make up. Think of all the people who camp in tents.
