Funky looking, but also perfect body line for a real high clearance rear bumper to follow?

Not to mention, it makes sense to add an elocker if you’re gonna drop the third member, since that’d be the time to do it, and now you’re at 3 grand lol.

I just don’t see how they’re gonna separate it from the base Land Cruiser/Prado. Won’t they just cannibalise each others sales?

They don't sell a "prado" in the US, and the Runner is the Surf in other markets and way different optioned. The Prado (Lexus 470/460) has been selling alongside the 4Runner (Surf) for multiple decades now, they occupy different market segments here. One is sold under the luxury brand and the other is sold under the rugged regular brand.

I suppose so. I just thought the Land Cruiser 1958 was supposed to be a back to basics model, and is basically the same size as a 4Runner now.

The new Landcruiser is basically a Prado and will be sold here as a Toyota.
I'm a bit confused too because they both slot in as a midsize offroad SUV.

Its going to come down to the FJC conundrum that'll end up with it getting dropped after a limited time if it doesn't find a utility or styling foothold first. The FJC sold on the merits of styling only to be dropped after no one could justify its complete lack of utility.

The 1st gen tundra in all forms is one of the ugliest abominations ever imagined by the Japanese, it's like an automotive pearl harbor.

lol yeah probably Toyota's biggest design fail imo. But that was that weird time in the early 2000s where most automakers were trying to incorporate that curvy 1950's-esque body style into modern car designs. We got gems like that Tundra, the reemergence of the Thunderbird, the PT Cruiser, and whatever the fuck this was supposed to be

They clandestinely shipped a 1997 f150 to their headquarters, held it up as a shining example of what sells in ‘merica, studied it extensively, got out a clean sheet of paper, and shat out the tundra.

If only they had started with a 70s square body
