    Metric is beautiful.

Until its time to shop for truck tires.
I don't give a fuck about an aspect ratio don't make me do math to figure out how tall it is :annoyed:

In my industry we work in mils and microns, completely random which will be used when I swear.
Any conversation will have both measurements brought up and everyone just carries on ignoring how ridiculous it is that we go back and forth constantly. Everyone just has to do the mental math to go to their preferred system mid thought.
Gets worse when someone says mil as shorthand for millimeter forgetting we're all going to think they mean mils as in thousandths of an inch..

Get pretty good at multiplying/dividing by 25.4 I guess..

20 thou on a CNC plasma with repeatability is a feat imo. laser or media it just isn't.

The tire size calculator here is a god send for that.
That's common here as well and annoying.

    Stuff. Also things.
Same for me at my last job.

I had to mentally catch myself before I said ‘mil’ and go with ‘thou’. Annoying, but far from the most annoying shit I deal with haha.

When I worked at the machine shop.... there were dirty words... all of them revolved around metric measurements. The funny thing is the CNCs natively understand both units of measure, but if you mix them horrible things can happen, so your CAM software always standardizes... well the 3D modeling guys set up the CAM software wrong and let it round on unit conversions too much... we scrapped about 20K of high nickel iron castings once because of that haha.

Being that we have the 124th fighter wing here and we have A10s overhead all the time, the reality is it's a badass plane with a niche role in warfare, one that may be outdated for modern warfare with the prevalence of drones and proliferation of AA that is carried into the battlefield. Even the AC130s role for close in support is limited with how vulnerable the airframe is overhead. Both worked great in the desert against dudes with AK's but in a near peer conflict, we need better solutions.

Sound doesn't save our troops on the ground sadly. Don't get me wrong, I love the A10, I just don't see it as viable on a future conflict :(

    Oh no of course

We used a lot of Kiowas, Cobras, and Apaches where we were, which in itself was ballsy even if an RPGs effective range is about a football field

I do love the A-10 but really, the F-35 would be more fun in almost every way except when it comes to blasting shit to shreds with a gatling gun. I think the A-10 only tops out at 450mph or something like that.

I'm starting to understand why all the goldfish we had as kids would die within a few weeks, we just filled up a glass bowl with tap water and plopped them in

that is if they survived our cat constantly trying to fish them out
