Pair the fact that gold fish produce a lot more waste than many other fish, along with using water that wasn't dechlorinated, I'd bet they died due to high ammonia levels.

Only takes 0.6ppm to kill most fish, and ammonia is produced by fish food (uneaten, decomposing), fish waste, etc.

Need to establish a nitrogen cycle before adding fish. Haven't done this shit in over 16 years but you basically set up a tank and add dechlorinated water.

You need to introduce ammonia, in order to create bacteria to handle the ammonia. The result of that is a drop in ammonia, and a rise in nitrites. Nitrites are still toxic, but not as toxic as ammonia, but are handled by other bacteria to create nitrates.

Nitrates are much less toxic and having live plants helps with nitrate levels. After they reach a certain point (below 40ppm, some people wait until 20ppm) then you do a partial water change.

In short, the longer the break between water changes, the more water you'll need to replace in order to bring nitrate levels down.

You also have ph levels, water hardness, etc to monitor. A lot of fish can easily adjust for this but those levels can directly affect bacteria itself.

I think we only had 4 or 5 over the years, I was a lot more invested in the toads I had for a few years. Had a couple firebelly toads, looked just like this

    Unknown.jpg

They were technically poisonous but Firebellies don't usually irritate human skin unless you're really sensitive to them.

when we had to move to Texas I let my brother's friend have them because he was really curious about them, little fucker put their tank outside the first night and they died in the cold

Crazy, never knew you had any

They need both a place to swim and dry land, with a nice temperature gradient right? I've had snakes so I'd think it's the same?

Goldfish are hearty MFs but you have to give them the basics, they don't care much about heavy metals but they want chlorine removed and they need lots of oxygenation. Other than that, they're great, but they're treated as giveaways so they often don't even get oxygenation or a water change.

Yeah they are pretty small so the tank wasn't very big, but was half dry/have submerged. The worst part was having to do the crickets once every few weeks, if those things escaped into the house it was a nightmare getting rid of them

Yeah we always won them at the church fair in little ziplock baggies, so I doubt they were given much thought from the get-go lol.

I don't get how people breed them; they stink like a MFer

Never had one escape, but whenever I'd buy between 5-10, whenever I heard one chirp, that's the next one that god fed

    Stuff. Also things.
I’m sure that whatever we do, it will be for the last enemy we faced and not the next, and that jobs in congressional districts will determine what the warfighter needs and not the warfighters themselves (see JSF).

God forbid, we ya know… ask them or anything

She thicc. These things aren't the good ones... the Chinook and early Dolphin are a two piece design that more sturdy and way less leak prone. I would like to see someone take this heavy duty chassis and slap 4wd on it though, me thinks it would be weirdly balanced and scary
