    Yea the 3.4 seems really easy to work on for the most part. It’s a lot more complicated of a job on the 4.7 V8. I can’t believe how much money I’d be saving doing it myself, even with the tow.

    Yeah, imagine how much more you would've saved listening to any of us some years ago :rofl:

    The 1UZ is easy; done more to it than my own 2UZ but when the time comes, I foresee no issues

    Yea the 3.4 just has more room to work with. I actually talked to the shop owner today, and he told me “I can’t beat RockAuto.” He said the price he saw for the Gates part was $180, and that’s before their markup. I think it’s cause the have to deal locally with whatever’s available to them.

    On a side note, is a wobbly fan pulley indicative of a failing water pump, or was it just the bracket that failed? With how much I’m saving, I could order a water pump and timing belt and still come out ahead.

    My dude, you are not doing a water pump and timing belt install yourself :rofl:

    It took you a week to reinstall a driveshaft

    And no, they don't have to deal locally, we've discussed this before

    It turns out that driveshaft is actually too short, since they didn’t account for the 2” lift on the front. I thought they took a measurement, but I guess they ended up going with the VIN. I do notice some vibs around 80 mph, so I might have to try to exchange it for a longer one.

    I might stick with the fan bracket for now, but I’ll keep an eye on the WP for any leaks. The pinion seal and rack are the priority for me.

    @time623

    As long as you don't run cold, caterpillar welds, you'll be good if the location you install it on is welded up

    The point being that the notch was added, but kept as small as it should be to ensure it gets welded properly

    I'll have to cut a few more with the bottle opener facing in the opposite direction; not everyone will install this in the same location and/or orientation
