Contrary to popular belief, gold fish are huge and require large tanks. Many species (commonly sold at big box stores) require as much as a 55 gallon tank for a single one!

They actually produce a hormone to stunt its own growth if they're in a tank not large enough for their needs, which is actually very unhealthy for them

    That's awesome

You would've loved the koi I ran into out in the middle of the woods in Santa Cruz

They'd swim up to your hand just waiting to get fed like w.e.

I see a lot of posts on our community FB page where people are finding those semiaquatic red ear slider turtles in the neighborhood and trying to find who they belong to.

I don't think it's very common for a turtle to get lost on accident...they apparently live a long ass time and get pretty big so people just get rid of them unfortunately

oh shit yeah I remember that lol.

My brother had a couple too, but after he moved out of the house my dad just let them out in the backyard thinking they'd be OK :facepalm:I'm sure some hawk or owl had a good meal that day

Person I've done a few zoom meetings with, regarding the circular base with two holes in it lol

He's cutting it today - messages me out of the blue he's having an issue cutting however he sends a video instead of a text reply

Asks "how do I get the torch back to cut here, and not mess this up because I can't afford to waste this steel"

Me "as long as you don't zero it, your torch already has a reference point in relation to the steel sheet and the piece it's going to cut"

Him "think I already hit zero"

So yeah, easy fix but it's hard to explain in toddler-speak

My last guppy tank was like spa fish. They'd nibble your fingers.

I don't recommend petting Oscar's though. My nephew was always putting worms in the tank and got too complacent trying to hand feed them. He got bit hard enough to draw blood but I think it mostly just scared the hell out of him, was funny as hell

Yeah they're cool and all but just like "small pigs"...they grow big AF

The gold fish thing I only learned as early as a year ago though and that took me by surprise

I should do that for my friends troughs, I keep trying to get her to teach the horses to use a live waterer though, easier to just hook up one to a water line than try to deal with these insect infested buckets

Had him screenshot his G code

    Error was loss of arc/voltage

G code revealed a .5 cut height...that's half an inch versus the 5 or 6 hundredths of an inch he was supposed to have

A little bit of copper in the trough helps to keep unwanted things from growing

huh, I'd never heard of an implant version in the arm...I only knew of the copper IUD version that goes up the hooha. Ex gf of mine had to go that route because it's one of the few effective hormone-free types of birth control.
