    Yea I don’t have any sensor codes, so that’s what pointed me towards head gasket or jumped timing. But a bad head gasket causing three misfires in a row would probably be catastrophic - like you said, I’d know. If it was just a slight leak, it’d probably just affect one or maybe two cylinders. I can switch around coils later just for the hell of it, but I’m trying to think about it logically before I load up the parts cannon.

    Also, wouldn’t a bad coil cause a misfire on 2 cylinders, since each one goes to 2 cylinders? I would also think a bad wire would cause issues on both sides of the engine, since the wires go to both banks. Again, I’ll try troubleshooting to the best of my abilities just to rule it out, but it just seems unlikely when thinking about it logically.

    Before loading the parts cannon you should do everything free that we've already brought up.

    Big ones if you haven't already done them;
    unplug and replug the cam position sensor connector on the timing belt cover.
    Reseat plug wires, on both sides (At the coils and at the drivers plug)
    Move ignition coils around, move plug wires around (Maintain correct plug firing order)

    Also, quintuple check that the plug wires are in the correct order. I know I've said that every single time, but the answer of 'they seem right' hasn't really been satisfying

    But he inspected them already :luvya:

    (He doesn't want to actually troubleshoot though even though it's free and easy)

    Yea I will go mess with it again and try to do some more troubleshooting when I have time this weekend or tonight. On a side note, this 4Runner forum is the worst website I’ve ever seen. It takes forever to load and is full of ads and crashes constantly whenever it does grant you access. There’s a few threads with a similar issue that I’ve been trying to read.

    Quick question - is the 5VZ still non interference if the belt jumps timing, or is that only if it snaps? Yea ik there’s still troubleshooting to be done to rule other stuff out so don’t flame me, but I was just curious. Like Kwikvette said, the truck is old, and I have no idea when the timing belt/idlers etc. were last done, so all bets are off really.

    Engines are either interference or not, there's no astrix to that. Try googling your questions sometime.

    Yea so I guess me having driven home like that would’ve only maybe damaged the cats (who cares). I’d imagine it might burn a valve if you drive like that for a long time though.

    Fucking terrible. This is unfortunately more common than people realize because it's harder to tell or know when an infant is dehydrated....and under 6 months they really aren't supposed to have water, just formula/breastmilk. So dehydration and overheating can set in quick.

    Makes me angry and feel terrible for them at the same time, I can't imagine going through that. Why bring a baby out in 120 weather though ffs (why do anything at any age in 120 weather for that matter).

    No you didn't damage the cats, why do you fret over things like that instead of focusing your limited brain power to the things that were suggested yesterday. Rather, take it to a mechanic.
