Ah damn. I have a magsafe mount in the truck and the daily, love them.

    Pre-magsafe days I used these: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-CHGeek-Charging-Windshield-Dashboard/dp/B08D5XJTJS?crid=2UK8CYHKWZQPA&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.RD54y_wFmerGGmV-yIgrMlz8uU5hnlwH0Bc_8Ou5UJkRCAB8wKKfEDykCi_mT2w0yt6-a6vmDoVW-C05bFNCIWtQSFKllzlyogPhzK1pmcrFG7tVo0YAvj0XjiO33S1TRsp5OWg6jpCqUkYSIUHZXK3DAEuWZvniJoN-xyw6ONIeXr81sbmKBpBljzZpFsnddhnCCOB83IPbDi3kWV4iA3OsRCxZSe2A2dJZjukHC0g.ooYb_Q5B9FJ5aETckhy43PmE4cZ_d3dPOApd5OcuIB0&dib_tag=se&keywords=phone+mount+wireless+charging&qid=1727217767&sprefix=phone+mount+wireless+chargin%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-3&th=1

The bottom piece of the phone mount is a switch that activates the mount to grab your phone from the sides. Wireless charges too. They break after a couple years, but they're cheap enough that it never really bothered me too much.
Suction cup mounting is unreliable, especially in the southwest heat, but I've found if I put the suction cup on the windshield, then put the mount arm so it rests over the edge of the dashboard. That way the weight of the phone is acting like a lever on the edge of the dashboard, pushing the suction cup up into the windshield. Never had the suction cup fail when used that way.

The last suction cup one I had got irritating because it would pop off the window at the most inconvenient time.

Yeah you have to support the weight of the phone somewhere other than the suction cup. This is how I had it in my old car, never came off once. The weight of the phone is effectively pushing the cup into the windshield instead of twisting it off the windshield like they normally do.

I use a magnetic mount (it doesn't hold up to off-road use, but is fine for on-road) affixed to the clock blank. It is partially obstructed by the steering wheel but it's not horrible.

TEQ mount does look interesting. If you just want to mount the phone I bet you could make a decent mount out of flat strap or 90-degree angle stock too.

I did have the arm resting on the dash to help keep the leverage down but it didn't have an actual bracket like that

I need something for off road use. On pavement I can just put the phone under the radio in the cubby and it's pretty visible but it doesn't stick around when the pavement ends

Damn, yeah I guess I've been lucky then
None of them have ever held up offroading if you keep your phone in it though. Broke the one I have in the truck right now when I was in moab recently lol

Every single one I've had has broke at the plastic ball joint between the mount arm and the phone holder

The issue with my setup is the magnetic mount. I think the RAM mount in the same spot could be good.

There might be something out there (RAAM Maybe) that you can mount to the oh shit handle. I'd put a phone there if I didn't have this ultragauge mount there.

I wonder if the ram mounts can be rotated so one of the arms is underneath the phone instead of both arms on the sides.

They have a couple bolt down options that would at least stay mounted

Do the arms rotate or is the grip good enough that it's not an issue
