That's a double case of rare. The dark blue was rare to find in an SE -- the ones white gauge dials and a 5 MT. It should have the additional SE suspension plates. SE models handled better than the GL or GLE.

If they survived, the trunk spoiler would have been broken.

A black leather boot should be available from Japan. The shift knob is an R32 model from Japan.

A piece of ICE broke the original spoiler tabs. I went with an aftermarket spoiler like the one in this picture.

Timing Chain Guides and Tensioner were updated for the 97+ models. The 95 and 96 can be updated to use the new and improved tensioner. It only matters if the chain starts to become noisy.

 

These are good engines and I've literally never tried to pull one to save for later... like I know the junkyard is full of them I see whole complete VQ30s every time I go but I can't think of how I'd use them because the bellhousings are only good for Nissan transmissions and theres really only one good RWD Nissan trans.

 

Of course this pristine 89 Subaru wagon comes up in Arkansas after I leave. I would’ve thought the PNW would’ve been the place to find things like this.

They sure are. I have a love for them like no other engine. I've accumulated a wealth of knowledge about making hard tasks easy. For example, the upper oil pan oil passage ways use o-rings to seal it against the block. The Nissan factory OEM o-rains must have been combined with the ones for the Vq35 because they don't fit perfectly. However, FelPro gets it right and those o-rings have saved me on occasion.

One of my biggest mistakes in car life would be not buying a dark blue 98 model I30T with a 5MT new or almost new in those years. A great running car with VLSD front axle and a 5 MT. They were homely looking but quiet and had all of the SE suspension enhancements. But then it would have been 8 years alter in 2006 before the internet group developed enough maturity to make ownership a great experience.

And to think that Stillen sold superchargers for that series that really worked is even wilder. Those were the pre Renalt days when Nissan engineering had a lush budget to make everything fast and fun to drive.
