I would like to give Idaho more of a chance, but I just got caught off guard with this job offer. I applied a couple months ago and figured that shop had sailed.

I’ve gotten requests for interviews from applications over a year old lmao

My vain advice; follow the money.

It's way too easy to go back to something that's familiar - that holds true for an ex bf/gf, going back to your parents, back to your hometown, etc.

But that kind of familiarity limits you greatly.

Enjoy the new job in Idaho.

Quit looking at the negatives, you'll find that ANYWHERE you live.

Focus on what's new, explore, see new shit and try new shit.

Next thing you know you'll be making more money, taking vacations to see other shit, saving up for yourself and your future without the responsibility of a relationship or children.

You are where many of us have been, where life was still "challenging" but free of much of the shit we have now.

It's not to say now is bad (definitely not in my experience), but right now you've got as much freedom as you can dream of and you're thinking about going back home to Arkansas of all places.

I remember one time in FL after I had been working there a year and realized that I was in a dead end job within a small division of a major company. So I applied for another job in banking IT. I would get horrible allergies in March from all of the trees and flowers blooming. So I took a bunch of antihistamines and drugs to survive for the 3 months when I would have a never ending sinus infection. I got a call from the banking IT firm to interview. The first thing they did was to give a Wolfe Spence Aptitude test to screen applicants. I know what my IQ is/was and didn't think anything about it. But trying to take that while under the influence of drugs was a disaster. Luckily, I didn't get the job. They went busted in less than a year later. Then my old employer learned i was looking to change jobs and offered my 20k more than I was making and paid for my move back to little Rock. It all worked out for the best in the end.

Oh it’ll pull timing. But I’m at the limit of 93 octane for fun stuff out here. E85 would be nice but stock Toyota ecu don’t do flex sensors

It's good to move around and experience different parts of the country. Places that I thought I would like turned out to be the places that I disliked the most.
Other places that people said that I wouldn't like turned out to be the most fun.

The money is kind of a wash. Both pay around 23/hr, but I was supposed to get a review and possibly get put on a salary after 3 months in Idaho, and the GIS director is retiring at the city next fall, so I could possibly move up to being an analyst at around 28/hr after a year or so.

You just have to experience it yourself.

Imagine reading about other people's experiences and basing all of your own personal choices from that. :stirthepot:

Well, Bentonville is a prestigious town so anywhere is cheaper than there

Rets are about the same, but it's easier to find cheap apartments right downtown in Moscow. Groceries and gas are more expensive in Idaho.

Take a weekend trip to Seattle WA. It's about 5 hours away.

It wouldn't necessarily be a comfort thing cause my relationship and coffee shop job are both over anyway.
