1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

I've been on both sides of the fence and definitely lean toward rent now. That said I rent a very nice place which helps, it's not a normal apartment setup. Not having surprise expenses and the burden of maintenance on a house. In 6 years on my house I had to replace the water heater, the dishwasher, the microwave, replace the floor when the dishwasher leaked. Replace the garage door motor. Replace the garage spring. Replace the fence. Replace the furnace and AC. Repair the sprinkler system. Maintain the yard every week. All while knowing the siding was aged and due to replace, the roof was in need of replacing.... Fucking money pit and sure you get the money on the back end when you sell, it's a drag to your cash flow with surprises like that, and they are on top of life's other surprises. Huge turn off for me.

I picked mine up off a store shelf, so I've had it for a few weeks. Still haven't used it though. Whoops. What are you going to wrench on first?

 

Probably my ground(s)

So, I have a shitty terminal on my ground cable in the GX.

Thought I had it on nice and tight on the battery...well the ground was pretty damn warm when I tried cranking yesterday so I got replacements arriving tomorrow.

Will swap the terminal on it, ensure the remaining grounds are good, and hope all is well.

Had pulled a P0335 code when I first buttoned everything up (when I replaced the camshaft position sensor). It wouldn't start. Then when I ensured everything was plugged in, it fired up, ran very well, and I shut it off.

Decided to go out for another drive, and it wouldn't fire up, and that's when I checked the ground (and found a code again for P0335). Ground was still on the battery post, but I was able to slip it off

 

I know, rentals are just about as much as being an owner around here

 

yeah I wish that were true here lol. We were spoiled with our rent on the last house for several years though. It's probably closer than I know from experience.

 

We definitely bought on the lower end of things but we have an acre so it whatever

I never hear mind, so not a big deal. Look I'll say this, there was i time I claimed " I would never live in an apartment again" and then I had to. And I kinda liked my last one, it was nice enough but definitely felt like an apartment. This place i have, is the nicest place I've ever lived, I love it. And it is far nicer than what I would get for the same cost of a mortgage. So I was wrong. I will side with you and say not having a place to work on my cars sucks, but the work parking lot is better than nothing.
