Me neither. I had to do a double take. Its nice seeing weird stuff, even better when you know that person went out of their way to have it done.

I think you'll dig it. I just want someone to make a good small phone again. They shouldn't have killed the mini after 13.
(I pre-ordered a Light Phone for a separate work phone, curious to see how that is.)

phones are crazy big these days. My pixel 6 was larger than I’d have liked and this iPhone is even wider :homer: I would have loved a mini if they still did security updates

there are a lot of fit and finish things that are more polished but also some of what I considered basic features aren’t on iOS. Also not a big fan of gesture based everything

Makes sense, I'm sure you're in remote areas a bunch. Tried any sat phones? They're pretty chonky and not very cheap last I looked.

They're so big! I'm still on a 13 pro and regret not getting the mini back then. I'm probably one of the only people who is gonna go backwards when this shits the bed and get a cheap SE.

Nah, our garmins can text back and forth but that's not convenient, I guess newer iPhones can now too off satellites*

I'm actually really impressed with Rapid Radios too, talking back and forth from Glenwood Springs to Trinidad, CO. Want to try them in no service places also before buying a base and some handhelds

Both the 12 Mini and 13 Mini are still getting major OS updates and probably will for a few more years, but they're no longer available for purchase unless you go refurbished.

I'm carrying a 13 Mini and will be sad to replace it even though I am getting to a point where I wouldn't mind more screen space.

Oh shit, you’re right. I ended up with an XR but I wish the mini was an option for newer models too for the inevitable upgrade

Apple is crazy good about supporting old hardware compared to a lot of other device makers. I carried my OG iPhone SE for 6 years and it was still getting the same software updates as a new phone, minus any features the hardware couldn't support.
