That's crazy. I was looking at Mountain High and Bears Instagrams. It looks like that may be closed end of February.

 

Funny to think that there was the "snowpocaplypse" last year or the year before when all the mountain communities down here in socal were trapped in their homes under 10ft of record snowfall for weeks and now this year we're all burning down in the middle of January

 

Makes you wonder what next winter will bring.

I live in viewing distance of a big parking lot, it's always funny seeing who pulls in to attempt donuts during these rare times we get good enough snow cover. Watched a Raptor make a loud mess last night, then about an hour later a little FWD Honda came in and just couldn't figure out how to have any fun. Almost felt bad for em. A kid in an old RX350 couldn't get anything going either and even came back twenty minutes or so after he'd tried the first time haha. Snows got worse and no more takers.

 

@eon_blue Andrew called and said he is evacuating the Santa Clarita hotel. His company is moving him to a Ventura hotel. He said he has never seen so much fire and smoke.

Oh damn, I didn't realize a new fire broke out that was causing evacuations. Will have to check the Watch Duty app....the winds were gusting up pretty good around our house this morning as well. Glad he is safe, Ventura is a beautiful area to be in


edit - looks like it is the same fire that broke out up there last week, the Hughes Fire but it was near containment last I checked the other day. Guess the winds kicked it into high gear, that sucks

Yeah the Watch Duty app shows it right around Castaic Lake, that area is right in the mountains up above the city. Getting pretty big and the winds are pushing it south toward the city
