One tool I can't believe I never purchased is any sort of tube roller

Would be perfect for making a footrest for this thing

also would add some weight down low for stability

the hf pipe roller is decent with some tweaking, and someone sells tube dies for it as well… but sch40 would probably be fine for a stool lol

The stool will be a lot lower than it is now, but you're right definitely don't want it top heavy

Main reason for going 5 casters vs 4

I used 1/8" for the backrest, legs are 3/16" and the casters are big at 4"

The HF tool I was looking at is $250, so I've been looking at all the goodies Swag Offroad sells for it to see if it's worth buying for future stuff

Can't find anyone near me that has one or even a Chinese variant of it :bananadead:

Visa gift cards (or refillable cards) are a good option too

I've test driven a lot of modern stuff over the last year and I try to be positive each time but nothing has stuck because of things like that. (I won't even get into the nanny systems) I sorta gave up. I look randomly on CarGurus or CarMax or local dealers, but at this point I'm disillusioned with most of it, especially past 2018ish. I don't like thinking about what it'll be like in ten or twenty years.

A lot of it is for roll-over rigidity. As cars have gotten heavier, they need more structure there to support the vehicle if it goes belly up. A good visual indication of this is my old van is of an old design with great visibility, but when you have a 1000# engine sitting under the front seats, if you go belly up, now this A-pillars have a whole bunch of weight to hold, and we'll, they just aren't design for it. If you're lucky you might just get a headache from it. This is a similar van to mine and you can see how the roof just folds under the weight.

I would love a steel hoop above/behind the seats to help with this one day.

I would 100% agree, the los of visibility going from the 3rd Gen 4Runner to the 5th Gen 4Runner was a lot. I would have to say the 5th Gen is better then the 4th gen, I could never see anything out of it.

Except F150's and some Ford SD's where there was that whole class-action lawsuit against Ford for having a weak roof/pillar and actually considered it a defect. It affected a good number of years (per Google, 1999-2016)

My friend died when his F150 was crushed by a tree :bananadead:

Oh man. yeah I remember that....unfortunately I don't think many if any regular passenger car/truck/SUV would withstand a sizable tree falling on it. But man talk about an awful freak accident, damn.

I looked into it more, out of my own curiosity, and the lawsuit came about because truck-to-truck apparently Ford's setup was overall a lot weaker or wasn't acceptable by certain standards.

Basically it occurred in 'wrongful deaths' whereas some people could still be here today if it weren't for how bad those trucks were.

Looking back at the pic, I don't think it would've made too much of a difference but maybe since the cab was overall still intact? Maybe just hit it at the right spot too who knows.

It's nice to see Byfield get some love. He will probably go his through his career under rated just like Kopi did.
Have you watched Hockey Psychology on YouTube? He has some real good breakdowns. Do you listen to any Kings podcast?

I also went down the rabbit hole on the whole Takata airbag thing

Bet there's a good podcast or two covering that

In some ways I think that's a good thing (the lack of media coverage)...that kind of weight of expectation has broken many a young player particularly in the Canadian markets. Carey Price comes to mind. Allows him to take the time he needs to develop

I haven't listened to any no, I'm still stuck on my fraud/money scandal podcast kick lol.

Yeah I am familiar with that as well, which was costly, so other manufacturers have made it a point to reinforce the a pillars to avoid such liability on their products.
