I'm trying to get my folks to go that route. Much less work for them and the salt air plus shade has trouble adding up to a nice lawn. Curious to hear how it is. I don't know anyone who has one, so haven't had the experience. I hope its nice and soft for no shoes enjoyment.

Almost bought a black over tan third gen RX350 the other day.
Going for a real 'old money grandfather' aesthetic over here.

    Oooh yeah

Since the guys came early and knocked it all out, and we haven't shopped for a playset yet, we just quickly ordered a water table set for tomorrow and this weekend

Want him to start enjoying it right away

It's a first for me too!

There's a higher initial cost, with all the labor that goes in of course

The removal and disposal of dirt, the weed barrier, the rock for initial compacting, the sand for more compacting, the grass itself, then the infill (sand for weighing it down)

We got a 15' x 23' section done in artificial grass which is more than enough room for a playset and several other things for a toddler

    20250529_150408.jpg

(Ignore the dirt areas, that's being planned as we speak)

We don't expect to entertain "guests" but we will be getting a gazebo for the backyard for ourselves

The area I'm standing on there is the patio extension we just got done last week at 15 ' x 13'

It's been an expensive month with all this and my new table :bananadead:

Awesome, the gazebo will be great for the fam especially Theo when he wants to play outside in the hotter weather

Dude he freaking loved the swing you guys had in your backyard

    Thank you!

It wasn't until they poured the many bags of infill and ran the power broom that it really came to life. I always remember seeing artificial grass at retailers and the stuff is all flat and fake looking.

    20250529_170005.jpg

The sand apparently weighs the grass down but also helps strengthen between the blades and stuff to support weight and stand up. If it wasn't hot right now I'd be outside with the kiddo.

Nice! How's the feel? Is it pretty soft? I was always afraid it'd feel like some miniature golf plastic grass or something.

I said we'll wait until tomorrow; I lied

Kid loves it, wife loves it, it's super soft so I'm glad I chose the one we got. Here's the specs for whatever it's worth -

My mom was married to a Samoan who played pro rugby for New Zealand for like 8 years and while the were on vacation in Hawaii she swam face first into the bottom of a little tourist submarine (you swim down and enter through the bottom) anyway she got a HUGE double black eye and so many people were giving him nasty looks for the rest of the week
