It's been hot out here this week, 90s and shit - the fake grass stays cool like normal grass actually.

We got a blend that is specifically meant for hot weather. Once the kiddo is done with breakfast we'll be playing outside on it today.

They're redoing our HS field and have a bunch of rolls. Might go pick some up

Shoot if you get it free that's cool

I looked at going this route way back and found the cheap stuff goes for about $2sq ft with the premium stuff at $4sq ft

The real cost is the labor and remaining materials

Get yourself a quality (permeable) weed barrier, one of the thicker fabric types and not plastic

Sincd you're getting a big yard done, you're better off renting a compactor to get things done quickly

You'll need to add nails (in general for the grass), specific staples, and adhesive too since I bet you'll need to mate pieces together to cover your width

We definitely aren't gonna do that, too poor, that's why we're buying football field grass

There are a ton of YouTube videos covering the installation of artificial grass. It's not "difficult" in that sense, but I can see where experience will come into play.

Specifically getting the area leveled nice and flat, blending pieces together, etc.

I hear steel pricing has gone up, at least that's what some have recently said in another thread

I'm just surprised it didn't go up at all the last 2 months, specifically when I picked some up this Monday or last week.

But others in different states have seen an increase.

You still have to buy turf fill beads after, or it'll be like green concrete

Most of what I buy is offcuts from big projects, guys bought the whole sheet already and opted only to take the portions they ordered so I get the leftovers for less than scrap value from our local place. That's been a good arrangement, they like Jayson and I there now. We mostly build smaller stuff anyway so it's perfect

I figured that's what you guys were doing.

I was doing the exact same with that shop nearby my house until he said due to policy changes, I can't just go in there to pick my remnants like I used to :bananadead:

    :(

They know we are right nearby now and we pay with cash... Everything in the remnant area is a sale item now haha. They go by weight usually, but now he's just been eyeing what we grab and we pay as we go, usually a $20 here and a $50 there. Whatever seems reasonable
