Compressor died last night, 5.5 days isn't terrible, pretty much what I thought I'd get out of it. Just came out to reconnect the panels and insulate the battery box a bit with some 1" foam.

Yeah there's tons of them. It's one of those I'm sure we could build something nicer type of things but at the same time it's $100...

Was entirely too easy to clone the BMW key with a flipper... Security in the modern age is much like it was in the past. Just a social contract

Is there a specific app for that? What kind of technology?

The most horrific BMW fob thing I've experienced was that 335xi I passed up. BMW made two styles of fobs for it. One with an quick and easy hot swappable CR2032 battery door, and the other required soldering to replace the battery. Like you're replacing a Gameboy Pokemon game save battery.

Nah I just used a raw read and raw send, It's a near field 415 megahertz thing. It's an older car too so it's probably not as good as the new technology which I don't know that it could emulate. Cuz I think those use rolling codes with rolling cyphers.

Ah ok, yeah rolling codes and such really complicate it. I wonder what the key in my Nissan uses….

Yeah you charge the one in the car and the other you keep as a backup. My 2011 135i had those fobs. I always just used the CR2032 one and kept the other one at home. I never even took the key out of my pocket I would always just leave it in a little pocket of my work khakis. BMW gives you the slot to insert it and it'll put the car in its first accessory stage when you put it in. But what they don't tell you is you don't have to put it in at all. You can just have it in your pocket and put your foot on the brake and press the start button. Believe it or not my current old ass 2002 E46, also charges the key well it's in the ignition. My battery's almost toast though.

Yeah both were dead on that 335xi. My friend is going to pick the car up today. He has garage space for it and no other projects.

I'm at this point with gluten now. Also Korean BBQ had me out of commission for the entire weekend last week. Greasy meats and gluten are just no bueno with my stomach.
