generously butter the cast iron, heat on low, put sandwich on (not joined together until after cheese melts on both slices) and cover with lid so it cooks evenly.

    @Speedytech7

    USPS or UPS to you?

Some areas are better/worse than others for packages.

USPS is usually fine for me, my postal guy walks the neighborhood going door to door.

    For myself:
Choice of bread, but I think white or sourdough are best. (Swirl rye if you want a patty-melt vibe)
Buttered outsides, choice of cheese/cheeses inside, but keep it to moist cheeses that won't have trouble melting, (American and Gouda are great together imo)
Pan on med heat, or even med-low, sandwich in, lid on at the beginning to aid warming and melting, then lid off and crisp it up. Heat up higher to crisp if you want. I like mine dark, but I'm in the minority there.

*Add pre-cooked bacon and an egg, over-medium, if its early and you're slightly hungover, then grill.

Brioche is amazing for grilled cheese - if you haven't tried it, give it a shot!

how long until Amazon just buys out the USPS, hell they are more reliable and faster in our area anyway

I always use sourdough for grilled cheese and buttering fresh sourdough makes the bread all funky

now, what kind of cheese to use is another question. We always have white and yellow cheddar in the house so I usually use both. But if we have pepper jack it's definitely going in there

Oh god my mom always made grilled cheeses with Velveeta or American Cheese, neither of which is real cheese lol.

gotta remember she never left Missouri until she was 25

    The real G's remember

They didn't even hide the fact that velveeta and that low-income cheese were the same thing

Kraft on cheap white bread done right is a classic haha.

A desert island choice meal for me would be PB&J on Wonder with a glass of cold milk and plain chips. That's a time-machine sandwich for me and its never not good.

I remember going into the Wonder Bread stores as a kid and getting the blandest, most bleached white loaf of plain white bread possible

yeah the only part remotely nutritious was the crust and I hated the crust, my mom would have to bribe me with trips to Chuck E Cheese once a month to get me to eat it.
