In case you didn't realize @Tour991 that setup is for you

Thank your son in law for reminding me I don't half-ass shit and think your stool should include an equally badass backrest like mine

Us old dude's gotta watch each other's 'back'

I made it as complete of a set as I could.

    20250713_133728.jpg

Alright so onto the rest of the parts you'll need -

Since you're getting your own seat done by hand, I'd recommend getting a backrest done at the same time.

    1. Seat bottom I used was ash hardwood at 13.25" diameter, 3/4" thick, and the edges rounded off. Stick with this diameter as best as you can, or slightly larger. If you go smaller, you won't be able to fit your backrest mount.

    20250325_155640.jpg

    2. The seat backrest was in the same ash hardwood at 7" tall and 9" wide in the same 3/4" thick with edges also rounded. You can go even larger if you want a larger backrest to lean up against.

    3. 1/4" - 20 bolts (4 of them)

I'm including 4x 1/4" - 20 T nuts (specifically for the backrest) but you'll need to source your own hardware hence the note above. I'm also including 9x M8 T nuts along with matching stainless steel bolts which will be used for the seat bottom mounting as well as the bottom backrest mount.

    4. You'll need 5 stem casters of your choice, with a 1/2" diameter stem at 1 1/2" tall - if you get some high-quality casters, make sure you purchase two (or all) brakes on them because they roll too easily.

    Here's what I used - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BMH2MBN7?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

    20250312_165304.jpg

    5. ACME rod for your actual seat. Highly suggest going with 1" diameter ACME, so you're really down to two choices. 1" 5 thread or 1" 4 thread; personally I'd suggest 1" 4 thread which means you'll have to spin your chair slightly less for faster adjustments. I swore I saw an 18" length at one point but I don't see it anymore. If you see it, go for that length as you don't need anything longer than that. You can always cut it down too which you most likely will anyway like I did.

Here's what I used, although mine was 1" 5 at two feet long - https://www.mcmaster.com/98935a921/

    20250315_191553.jpg

    6. ACME nuts matched to the ACME rod you used above. You'll need a total of 2 or 3 depending on your lock nut situation. One nut will be welded to the seat bottom mount and the top of the ACME rod, another nut will be welded inside the bottom of your center tube, and the last (optional) can be placed above the center tube to 'lock' the rod in place.

    Here's where I purchased them - https://www.mcmaster.com/94815a110/

    7. Steel rod for your stem casters. You'll need a size that'll fit and support your stem caster selection so if you opted for something like 3/4" diameter, 5/8" diameter, etc you need steel rod to support that setup. McMaster Carr sells it as small as a foot long which is more than enough for all 5 casters.

This is the rod I purchased for my 1/2" diameter set - https://www.mcmaster.com/89955K629/

    20250312_165232.jpg

    (Optional)

    8. Paint, unless you want to leave it raw although I'm not sure if it'll rust out there where you're at or not.

    9. Tool-less lock nut. So while you can opt for using a nut for the top nut as I mentioned above, you'll have to use a large wrench or pliers just to lock and unlock it each time.

I spoiled myself with this chair and bought this, but keep in mind it only comes in 1" 5 - https://www.mcmaster.com/92428A130/

If you purchased a 1" 4, you'd have to opt for a different setup like this (looks uncomfortable) - https://www.mcmaster.com/92428A745/

Fire on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon destroyed the North Rim Lodge and Visitors center. Super sad. But the images of smoke over and in the canyon are pretty incredible

Man, I know LG electronics have been going down the drain but the backlighting on our living room TV went out again :annoyed:

Pulled up our receipt from when it was repaired under warranty - TV bought 3/29/23, repaired 10/5/23

Been good up until this afternoon where we turned it on to sound but no image. Power cycling it now so once I fire it back up (in half an hour) I'll see if I've got an image or not when shined with a flashlight.

If there's an image, it'll need new LED's which are only $50 if I found the right set.

Just sucks because my LG OLED is still going strong and I bought it when OLED's first came out.

Edit: power cycling worked, fortunately but now I'll be on the lookout

LG fridges or kenmore 795 (lg made) are the worst. Ive had to fix so many that were less then a year old with bad compressors
