I'm glad Stephanie and my FIL were never that way

If anything, my FIL would call me asking for a hand cause even my BIL that was living with them was proving to be worthless

I had a sound bar once, but I ended up not using it cause I hated having to use a different remote.
TV speakers have always been good for me. It’s picture quality I’ve always cared about. Thats why i got a 78” samsung oled

If u hook up the soundbar to the eArc port on your TV over HDMI it’ll control it using the same remote. My soundbar did that and my new receiver that’s like 10 years old, also gets powered on/off and volume controlled with just my tv remote. Didn’t even have to do anything to set that feature up, it just automatically knew to do it

I got lucky. When i was looking to replace my 75” i was looking at the 2k price ramge for another 75” and none were oled. But bestbuy had a sale for a 78 oled for 2200. The original price was 3200

Speaking more of audio, @Kwikvette if I wanted to add another sub to make my 5.1 into 5.2, should I match it?
I've got a PS-8 right now. Options I see are:
    A. Another PS-8 (Perfect match)
    B. A bigger sub from the same family, ie PS-12
    C. 12" sub of relatively equal quality from any manufacturer

Pretty satisfied with the bass right now, but that extra sub pre-out is just staring at me wanting to be filled

    Don't bother

You will benefit much more from a single quality sub

ARC is cool but I'm holding onto my 2010-ish "dumb" TV as long as I can. Best it can manage is HDMI-CEC.

I've got a Logitech Harmony to make everything play nice together. Someday it'll stop working because Logitech can't be bothered anymore...

So if I get a single better sub, I'd be better off not even bothering to continue using the old one as a 2nd?

    Yep

My OLED was in the $3-4k range since I got it when OLEDs were first released

But I got hooked up and ended up paying half that

CEC should still get the power and volume functions right?
Still need the harmony if you got other stuff to control of course though.

    Correct

Wait until you get a real subwoofer; you might get addicted

I remember being in like middle school getting a flat screen because i worked for my grandpa and save up enough money for him to split the bill. Was a 42” in my bed room. Xbox live with the boys in middle/high school was crazy.

You're an engineer, just use paper stats and you'll see the difference lol

    Check out SVS Ultra line

I've stuck with SVS exclusively for HT for subwoofers under $2k
