@Kwikvette apparently the bitey bugs from hell that we have around here are known as Buffalo Gnats, they are bigger and bite harder than mosquitoes which explains all the itchy welts, fuckers are brutal. Need to find a good solution to repel them

I swear the other day I had to look them up recently cause they aren't mosquitos (no long legs, or long stinger)

They're like the size of a fly with a short ass stinger that's painful after they bite :bananadead:

Gonna look them up and see if that's what we have here; I left your house with a welt that lasted a week and a half

Tahoe is an 8 hour drive from here, I'd have to make that a 3 day trip at least...though I should plan something before the baby comes in Oct

Yeah they suck, makes me miss the ankle biting zebra looking mosquitoes we had at our old house that I thought were the worst at the time. These are way worse

We got a bug zapper for our front porch a month ago because all the flying bugs (mosquitoes, gnats, Junebugs, flies and shit) love congregating outside our front door trying to get in whenever we open it. Only really works at night though but makes mornings a little better without so many building up overnight

Reminds me I need to clean it, I saw a big ass beetle looking thing go up in flames on it last night...don't want all the dead bodies to start a fire

I got one I never put up, in fact I'm looking at it now lol

Not sure if those "tiki torches" with the mosquito repellent fuel work at all

Thinking about some for the backyard even though our gazebo has a mosquito net

We did it with Olivia last year. It took 12 hours to get to my parents place near Corona. I couldn't imagine how long it would take with two or three kids?.

Rebecca initially made me take the bug zapper down because she said it was a "death trap" o_O I was thinking wait a minute, you just had me commit genocide on hundreds of ants with ant spray the day before but a bug zapper crosses a line? lol

the next day she said it was just the hormones and we put it back up

they are pretty loud but can't really hear it from inside. One of our neighbors the street over has them lining his entire property and it sounds like a lightning storm every night

We learned the hard way with Sofia, we don't do car rides over a few hours with kids under 5 any more. River has never been in the car longer than maybe 3 hours. We will fly instead, or she will with the kids and I'll meet them via car with our supplies. A 30 or 45 min flight is way better than an 8 hour car ride with little kids.

Especially for our house since it's small; easily cleans up a 2 car driveway and sidewalk and never let's off pressure

It's Ryobi's smallest version and figured it's a cheap risk in case I didn't like it

    @eon_blue

Looked them up, and yep those are exactly the bugs that bite me here

Only come out in the evening; apparently I need to incorporate more garlic into my diet as that's the best way to "naturally" repel them

Which makes total fucking sense as to why a lot of my neighbors are often walking in the afternoons and evenings without issue

and as an added benefit it will repel vampires too (should watch Sinners if you haven't already, best movie I've seen in awhile)

the downside to that though is that you will smell like garlic lol. That must be why some of those "chemical free" bug sprays reek of citrusy garlic, I can't stand them...hopefully there's another option

Was thinking Lost Boys but I'll add that to the list lol

Yeah I don't wanna smell like garlic, but then I'm like damn....I don't want to smell like [redacted] so I'll just stay indoors in the evenings :anonymous:
