Every time I go on one my wife says the same thing “I’m never going on another trip with the kids”. Hasn’t kept that promise yet once

That's Rebecca after every long car ride with the kids lol. Which is why she usually flies with them and I drive out with all our stuff

Monica's the opposite she'd rather drive than fly with the kids. She says it's less stressful. When we head down to SoCal In October it's going to be a long drive.

Depends on the flight time. A 45 min - 1hr long flight is super easy and better than the 5hr drive. It's the long flights with them you want to avoid.

The wild card though is if you end up getting stuck on the tarmac or something due to a delay, that fucking sucks lol.

I'm pretty sure according to the FAA when this occurs you are exempt from legal charges if a Lord of the Flies situation were to occur.

We always used the budget airline Avelo for flights around CA and up to see family in Oregon but they just canned all their west coast operations :(

Oh man, 5+ hour drive is easy here.

Is it Sofia that hates the long drive or River?

Theo will yell out every color vehicle we pass by, or start singing one of his nursery rhymes if he isn't passed out

I will say that if you wanted to go ahead and do all your children flying stuff on Spirit... I wouldn't care... couldn't pay me to fly that airline.

Both but River is way more antsy on long drives, not as used to them.

don't think I've ever flown Spirit, they probably only operate out of LAX and I avoid that airport like the plague

Avelo was cheaper because they discounted tickets in favor of upcharging for bags and carry ons, so it was perfect for us when I'd drive our stuff up so they would only need to bring a small bag for a short flight

still think some airline should try out a soundproof glass section in the rear for kids and families like churches do

Honestly, the drive is easier than stressing about pissing off everybody around you.

When we flew to Colorado we got lucky Olivia slept the whole way. We also had a lot of stuff to keep her busy though just in case.
I think my threshold is drive if I can easily do it in a day. If it's a 2-day drive we are flying.

Yeah snacks and activities are key. We have a whole closet full of stuff that only comes out/kids only see it when we go on trips lol.

Truth be told, the $40 I spent on the sub and speakers were a gamble since I couldn't test them

    20250723_153123.jpg

Subwoofer is definitely overkill, but the bookshelves will definitely go on the wall

Now I just need a long ass USB cable to run from my mini PC to my integrated

Naw, Amazon will cover me lol

They can't possibly fuck up a USB to USB-A surely

Although I'll have to dig into my stuff and see if I can find any interconnects I have on me from my audio days

The set that arrived for my sub share a ground which still allowed the sub to sound silent when it was tested in the picture you quoted

    20250723_160214.jpg

Soon as I threw it in the corner by the fridge, it was buzzing and it would go away when I unplugged the interconnects
