I don't, I work in a prison... for a college. We're the contractor they hire to educate incarcerated individuals, it's pretty neat really. WA law says that anyone in prison without a High School diploma or GED must be enrolled in classes and working toward it until such time that they achieve either one. But beyond that we offer vocational certifications and higher education classes too.

We don't have a local shop - the closest is Santa Fe (only an hour really) but they are heavy focused on their trails, not that I wouldn't ride there, just obviously not from my porch. There are a couple shops down there but everything sells retail or retail+ -- though I guess I could go find what I like and buy elsewhere...

We had a shop up here a LONG time ago; I know the owners still - they could also probably give some advice.

    allergic to watermelon!?!

I ate too much during a 50K race once - hint, too much will give ya da shits. The last stretch of the race was a dirt road along some houses; I finally found a ditch to "hide" in :bananadead:

I am very careful about eating watermelon at races now. It's just soooo refreshing during hot sections and a great transport for salt. :p

It's a pretty mild allergy, I can't struggle through. But then I have to put up with tough swallowing and a scratchy throat for a few hours.

    Stuff. Also things.
    I’m not the only one!

Watermelon is delicious, but I get the same low grade issue that you mention.

Cantaloupe on the other hand gave me enough of an anaphylaxis response when I was younger that I almost had to go to the hospital because I was afraid of choking to death. Too bad, really, because that shit is delicious.

weird; I'd never think people could be allergic to something that is mostly water. Must be some protein specific to melon?

this bike research is crazy -- now I'm reading about XC bikes; perhaps a better option if I'm never going to play that DH game. :p Why is it so hard to buy a bike? lol.

That's what I was getting at when I said you should let your riding goals drive your bike choice. Modern XC bikes are hella capable if you aren't going to do big mountain stuff, and they'll be much more enjoyable to pedal over long distances.

What you're doing now sounds like trying to pick between a Miata and a Tacoma before deciding whether you care more about track days or getting to cool campsites.

Yah I'm not against used - honestly prefer it; just trying to read about what is what so I don't get scammed. :p

Some of the shops have some used bikes they fix -- so also a good option knowing it wasn't fixed by someone who is clueless. :p
