yeah even just getting a puddle on clean material isn't working, seems like the %EN is set to minimal cleaning? and my dial does not change the weld visibly...

I've tried 2%Lathanated (blue) and .8% thoriated (white) with basically same results, with balling and without... strangely the puddle looks fine immediately on striking the arc with a fresh grind on the tungsten (with flatted tip ~.050 on 3/32's with 30deg grind

I'm ~10 years out of practice, but I know the basic steps lol.

    Dang

Was gonna say I remember it being blue or gold but either of the two should work fine

Pics of said welds at different balance settings?

Not that I'd be able to offer much input but maybe it'll show us something you might be missing

    How's the tip look?

Shock relocation is a no-go. I'm keeping this thing 100% stock except for the upgraded suspension components. I was VERY clear about that when ordering these, no lift or add-a-leafs etc. I was told that I could stay stock with this setup and that's why I went with Fox over Kings in the rear (rear Kings require a lift).

Unfortunately, I don't think that stock replacement springs are going to correct this. Hoping the tuner is willing to work with me on alternatives.

Kings are a better fit for stock suspension; they're pretty short and people have damaged them by lifting their trucks.

According to the tuner, it's the exact opposite (for the rears at least). I'm gonna take some measurements and hope that they can make something work. Needless to say, I'm not very happy right now. Wish I could say that this is a first with this outfit, but they've burned me in the past a few times too. Was thinking this time would be different...

    I see.

I was just going off two things - memory, and the many threads in the 1st Gen section regarding King rears.

The specs show their lengths (ext and comp) to be similar to that of a stock shock.

I remember this specifically when I got Fox on my truck instead of Kings.

Then I stuck around the forum and have seen many threads/posts where people have damaged their King rears due to overextension on lifted setups.

Any chance you swapped driver and passenger shocks? The factory shocks are different lengths, maybe these are as well?

Will have to look into to it a bit. Would rather have Kings.

It's possible. When I installed them, I put the longer unit on the passenger side. If I swapped them, it would be even worse (i.e. bottomed out 100% of the time).

    I wanted Kings too

But I didn’t want to run Fox fronts with King rears, or buy them from two different shops

It wasn't until later I read about the rears being short on the Kings that made me pass on them

Haha, they talked me into the exact opposite, King fronts and Fox rears. Have Fox all around on the GX and am not super happy with them, hence trying to go Kings on the Taco.

You could end up with another rig

I bought King fronts to swap out the Fox with, then ended up with a 3G4R and threw Kings on that

I was pretty close to getting a new rig a week or two ago. The GX destroyed a valve and I got quoted $15k to replace the engine. Hard to justify that cost when it's probably not even worth that much. Considered stripping it of the suspension, bumpers, sliders, skids, RTT, rack etc and kicking it to the curb. Also considered an LS swap, but I just don't have the time. Started looking at 80 series for a bit and wasn't sure if I was ready for another project. Decided to just have them replace the valve and do a small top end rebuild for $5k and send it with the GX instead.

Probably is time to get a 3rd rig though. Need something to install ADS's on so that I can try all the suspension brands out, haha.

I didnt take any pics of the tungsten, and now have ground it. Ive been able to make a consistent ball or keep the tip barely balled, but the puddle formation looks like shit. It did look slightly better when i lowerd my gas flow, which was opposite of what i expected

    @time623

Mouth breathers out there now have to worry about bats on top of all those scorpions y'all got:rofl:

Some woman from Massachusetts was visiting AZ, and a bat flew into her mouth. Rabies shots ended up costing +$21k.

Overreaction… Mouth bats are a treat, any local will tell ya. No reason to panic or pump yourself full of toxic chemicals…
