Ah you said center, I thought you meant the literal center tube

The way I designed it, it has holes so the stem caster pinches it between the caster and the tube the stem goes through but that looks good!

If I ever sell/make another one, I'll have to incorporate it.

I never designed this stool to be sold at all - it was to make something for myself that I could call my own, and not toss my money at another company charging what they charge.

Somehow about a dozen have made it out of my house now :notsure:

Notching the center tube for the legs would be even better lol

So that leg support plate isn't welded to anything its just has holes at the tips that the caster bolt goes through and clamps it down?

I was thinking the tabs to line it up for welding

    Yep!

The goal is simply to prevent lateral movement in the legs. The one-piece brace is 1/8" thick mild which is more than strong enough to resist any twisting seeing as how they'll be torqued down at every caster.

No it's indeed a great idea

The brace was completely an after thought because - I came up with it at random, and wanted something to add support to what was an almost-done stool.

I assume that those making a stool, would get some tubing rolled like I did as it would both act as a footrest as well as reinforcing the legs all around.

After the tubing is cut to size and welded to itself, it's then welded directly to the tops of the legs.
