    Bandsaws are nice to have.

Been putting off making a project out of mine; I really need to make a stand for it and incorporate a catch tray as well as a stop.

    One day...

Maybe one of those portable bandsaws would be a good addition, I’ve heard good things. Can get a stand for it for chopping too, I’m sure someone remembers the name of those stands, it’s currently escaping me

Just in case you wanted more reasons to swipe a card lol

Swags exactly who I was thinking of
Though I’m only seeing a vertical saw stand from them now, chopping stand like that HF is what I was picturing

Swag is vertical only, and runs even more than the HF variant that allows two positions

lol, I got too much gear already, stop trying to make the hoard worse!

The chop saw is an older model evolution carbide tipped deal, makes quick work of anything but throws chips everywhere.

The bench top bandsaw is a Wen, it gets the job done but is slower than my morning constitutional before any coffee.

I also have a Dewalt portaband I am going to get the swag upright table for… :anonymous:

@Kwikvette Ive got the option to tack in all the assembly nuts before I remove the bolts, so I’ve got yet another option of clamping things to the table. Do you think that’s worth the effort, or are the million existing holes more than enough? Ever wish you had a threaded option?

How’s the noise on the evolution? Loud of course but unbearably? The noise and sparks with my abrasive saw are my biggest gripes

There are some reliable ways of turning a drawing into big a part without a giant CNC. Just depends on how much time and effort you're willing to put into it.

A nice middle ground is to use a smaller CNC cut a few templates, then use a jigsaw and a router to transfer those templates to a larger piece.

Loud enough for earplugs but I do that for most sawing/grinding anyways. Not bad enough to turn me off from it. My biggest bitch is the chips, they get everywhere. I started wearing a hat though and bought a magnetic sweeper, so I’ve got it in check.

I'm not following - you mean thread any of the many holes?

    Naw, never.

Any and all fixtures have pins in them and you never want to take that option away from yourself. You can always make your own stop or plate or what have you and either thread it yourself, or weld a nut on top if you need something fixed in an odd fashion.

Honestly I use the wen bandsaw the least frequently of the bunch. It makes a nice clean cut but no joke can be a few minutes per if it’s something thicker. I hesitate to sell it because I like the miter it gives me sometimes, but it’s on the chopping block if I need the space back.

    It's too light on top.

I use my HF bandsaw for everything and I love it. So much that I sold my once or twice used Evolution saw for super cheap.

It cut the ACME rod recently without issue and without taking long while still being on the same blade I installed some +3 years ago when I brought it back to life.

To clarify, all the bolts that hold it together for assembly just fit into these capture slots. If I tack in the nuts before removing the bolts,, I’ll have a bunch of options on the top and sides to thread a bolt into. Separate option from the regular fixture holes

Ahh gotcha, that's a very smart design I dig it

I see no use for them after that

Right!! That’s the reason I picked these guys! Adding some clamping force and allowing for some adjustability gives me a legitimate shot at decent flatness.

When we decide to upgrade down the road, we can ask Siegmund if they'll do a group buy :anonymous:
