Nice. I treated just the outside frame rails and skid plates with fluid film: for the inside frame rails, dog legs, rockers, fenders, etc. I used 3M Cavity Wax. It’s permanent rather than needing re-application.

I bought the gallon cans of fluid film and thinned it with vegetable oil, per the instructions. Felt wrong walking into our break room, pulling it from the cabinet, and walking right back into the shop and dumping it into a spray gun haha.

I used our paint shaker to get it thinner, it comes like peanut butter out the can but once it’s shaken - it’s very liquid.

There’s an off-brand one here. They’re much nicer buses than anything we had, they only run them in the summer.

Funny enough I still freelance for big bus haha. I fly to New York every so often to work on the electrical systems for their buses.

I used CRC Marine Corrosion Inhibitor on my two 3rd gens and it seemed to hold up ok. It would need touch ups every Fall so I said the Hell with it and tried the FF and WW. The rear subframe on the WRX is a little crusty so the WW black will look nice.

Yeah the black definitely helps mask it I’d say.

Moving to Pittsburgh was definitely a culture shock from living in California my whole life. The cars are so new here, everything in Cali was regularly 25-35 years old and pristine. Looks like the cars here don’t last five winters before they’re ruined.

I barely see any first gens tacos here. I can count on one hand how many first gen Sequoias I’ve seen rolling around

Seconds gens are disappearing fast in my part of PA right now. I actually had to get rid of my 2009 due to rust.

Neighbor across the way actually has a 1st Gen Sequoia, seems to be in decent shape. No idea what the frame looks like. Their kid has a couple 3rd gen 4 runners that are a little crusty.

Typically you get 10 good years out of a vehicle (untreated) around here before needing rust work. PennDot's idea of treating the roads is throw down a ton of rock salt and not worry about plowing. I live close to and work in Maryland where they use that liquid shit. THAT eats vehicles!
