Ew, that's either an EJ20, EJ25D, or EJ251, well known for head gaskets. I have enough worry on my FA20DIT throwing a rod, I don't need that worry

Don't forget turning into a piston ring smoke bomb, lotta those FA20s doing the blue exhaust on-ramp pull of shame.

Mine is already on its second engine (replaced before me). If I was a betting man, I would bet the previous owner ran it outta oil. They didn't have the mileage of the used engine they put in, but I've driven it well over 1,000 miles so far and it hasn't used a drop of oil. So, it might be a low mile unit or well cared for.

There's a great Subaru builder/tuner here in Spokane so as a general rule my buddy and I just stay away from the things, too high risk and too low reward for messing with em.

I feel bad for the Burning Man crew. They had damage earlier from a dust storm. I know the feeling of hosting an event and the worry about the weather.

My FA20 was up to like 150k before I sold it, surprisingly never had any engine issues
    it was NA though
Fear of issues was 90% of the reason I got rid of it though :anonymous:

Didn't you have an NA one? Those are usually fine, Subarus are just fine if left stock and maintained as if they were a German vehicle. Modifying them is when you start asking more than they're prepared to deliver.
