Let me see how much a full Metric Snap-On set is going to run me. Otherwise I'll just pick up the Blue-Point kit.

I know Snap-On Corp has standards. I know it's made in Taiwan, but it can't be all that bad.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
My school had a few converted Bridgeport and some fully automatic EDM machines. The converted Bridgeport we're pretty decent.

Luckily for me I already have three of Snap-On wrenches in my toolbox right now, so that won't be an issue.

How do you feel about Tekton? I have to say their Metric ratcheting flex-head wrench set are the tools I use the most.

Ha no kidding. We had our prom there this year.

I was on the committee to choose the venue. It was between the Exploratorium in San Francisco, and some snooty golf club in San Ramon whose name escapes me.

I was the head of food, which sounds easier than it was. The Cal Academy is crazy strict. Your chosen food vendor must have $2,000,000 in liability insurance, be recommended by the City of San Francisco, use biodegradable silverware, use no processed food, and must use 'free-range, organic meat' and 'locally sourced produce', plus the staff has to be trained in some fancy environmental certification.

And that's why we had overpriced tacos that year instead of a sit down dinner which I had connections with a caterer for.

On top of the rental fee, you have to have two Biologists on staff for the night in case someone throws something into the tanks. I shit you not they will conduct a biopsy if one of the fish dies and fine the school if they find a piece of gum.

Yeah we got nothing big and fancy. I can make small stuff. My dad doesn’t need anything really fancy for his company though he can benefit from a cnc so he doesn’t have to pay someone to do it

I have some wiha and knipex stuff, never broken any of it and the teeth on the knipex pliers stay nice and sharp. Maybe one day ill decide to buy some nicer sockets but I've only broken two sockets and they were both Kobalt. Never broken an HF impact grade socket (most of my sockets are impact and all HF impact sockets are Taiwanese now). I have some random DeWalt and Husky sockets too. Won't catch me buying Snappy sockets because they're too hard to exchange. Stuff like ratchets can wait for an exchange because I have piles of them, but it's nice when you bust a socket to just swap it out next time you go out and about. The flank drive is nice though, I have too many box wrenches as it is but even still I'll probably buy a set of flank drive long handle box wrenches from snappy soon.

My opinion, FWIW, Snap On is way over priced for their sockets and ratchets. Those Kobalts are the real deal and you can get them at any Lowe's.

Impact sockets are gonna be HF. You won't break one.

i had craftsman and kobalt sockets when i started.. never broke a set.. but rounding off bolts was an issue. finally bought snappy sockets and havnt had much of an issue.. thats the real advantage to the snappy sockets

for cheap sockets im a firm believer that gearwrench is the best bang for your buck right now. and the kits with their ratchets.. their ratchets are pretty good.

and with that im off to bed. i got work in the AM.

If I could still buy old Craftsman I would but the new stuff is just garbage with Craftsman's name on it.
