Find a good driveline shop, machine shop, or a good mechanic.

Spicer is the brand you’ll want.

Ahhhh 120volt AC is a tickle. 220-240volt that shit hurts. Getting nailed by both legs of a 230volt 3 phase system to ground is mother fucking painfull. Ask me how i know....:violent:

    Bout to order.
So I have a 2004 2.7L ext cab 4wd, I need two for the rear end right? Minus the Carrier Bearing and the cardan joint?
    Two of these?
    https://www.amazon.com/Spicer-51510...mm=2004:toyota:tacoma&keywords=spicer+u+joint

    This the right center bearing?
    https://www.amazon.com/Spicer-211750-1X-Center-Bearing/dp/B00GAPFD2E

They don't have a reference list that I can find to verify this shit works lol.

Dealer's a prick. Mine put back in exactly what I had on the truck, at the time, an AAL, and a biscuit on the CO's.

Yep, it locks when you are on the gas. It is supposed to allow one tire to spin faster (the outside tire) than the other while you are going around turns but still drive both and ensure that one is not spinning like an open diff. It unlocks completely when you are off the gas.

I heard this make it feel weird trying to reverse into spots when you first get it. Lol

Do you like Detroitss more then the other kind of LSD?
What would you recommend in a Daily driver

It can, usually in reverse there is not enough difference in wheel speed to make one side want to spin free so it stays fully locked

As far as automatic lockers, yes, I like them better. Unlike a lunchbox locker they will not click when you go around corners and do not need any special gear oil additive or maintenance either.

Trick question, it depends on your driving style/commute/ and what you're willing to tolerate. If you don't ever want to hear the tires chirp or scrub, you want an elocker or ARB so you can turn it off completely. The Detroit is a good compromise for a lot of people because it's not as extreme as a full spool/welded diff so it won't chirp the tires as much (you still can while in reverse or if you really gas it through a corner and force it to full lock) but is MUCH cheaper than a full ARB locker + compressor + install.

I've put about 1400 miles on my truck with the welded rear in the last 2 weeks and don't mind it. Tight parking lots and U turns are a little trickier but can usually be accounted for with patience or planning.
