Ooh green ones, do your battery doors work right still?

 

I've always wondered about that. Supposed to have covers on offroad lighting but I too have never met anyone that got ticketed for it around here. I was wondering about light bars, never seen anyone have covers for those. Do they even exist? I only see people running covers for round lights sround here.

 

@mechanicjon does I think. Some other guys too, seem em posted in the what did you do today thread. Someone just posted one this morning too. Most of the ones I've seen are LED.

 

Ok no problem. I don't mind working off dimensions but I don't like to work of people's measurements if there are any critical dimensions as I can't guarantee fitment. And if there are critical dimensions I need to know what tolerance it has if I don't have a sample to copy. If anything I'm assuming the inside bore?

 

If you PM me your address I can just send the part to you, it's pretty small and light. Would that be better for matching dimensions?

Why do they fail? Mine is one of the first models, got it in early 2000, still works fine. I never leave the batteries in mine though since it doesn't get used often anymore.

 

Don’t know. I’ve only seen one fail, and it was from corrosion on the cap

 

Yeah that's why I don't leave batteries in mine anymore in case they leak. But I've been using lithium batteries in it anyway cause I got a shit load for cheap.

 

Yeah, aren't laws just for the government/state to make money?

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a vehicle may be equipped with not more than eight lamps for use as headlamps while the vehicle is operated or driven off the highway. The lamps shall be mounted at a height of not less than 16 inches from the ground, or more than 12 inches above the top of the passenger compartment, at any place between the front of the vehicle and a line lying on a point 40 inches to the rear of the seat occupied by the driver, shall be wired independently of all other lighting circuits, and, whenever the vehicle is operated or driven upon a highway, shall be covered or hooded with an opaque hood or cover, and turned off.

They still make lights out of glass? What is this, Spain, in the 30s? Lol I prefer glass optics actually

 

I believe they still make em & you can still buy em, just new vehicles manufactured after a certain date could no longer use glass. I forget though. I miss glass headlights too.

What I thought was odd is that 92-95 Civis in the US had glass headlights but in Japan they were plastic.

 

No idea. I don't know much about LCs. Doesn't Zane's LC have glass headlights?

 

Mine is glass but I think 100 series are plastic, in fact I'm sure they are. But I'm fairly sure you can still produce a vehicle that uses sealed beams, and I've seen them as new as 2016 at least

I just looked it up because I was sure they were plastic, we are both right the 100 series changed to plastic in 06. The LC Prado (GX Lexus) uses plastic too because you cannot have projectors behind glass covers

 

Yeah I think I'm remembering wrong. I could of sworn I remembered reading something about new DOT standards but I can't find anything on the net saying glass headlights can't be produced on new vehicles. Probably just cost & ease of manufacturing is the reason we don't see glass much anymore.
