So first impressions of the Tesla after driving it around all day:

It’s not a good car if you drive a lot without a plan. You have to plan around your battery range which is about 310 miles for the long range model. However, it is a good commuter car. If you charge it every night you won’t even notice that you have a limited range with it.

Cut it real close today, got home with 8 miles left on the battery.

I think Tesla’s supercharging network across the country is rather decent, if you’re traveling around on the highway or interstate system you will never be be too far from one.

The Model 3 has a lot left to be desired reliability wise. I’ve had the control screen crash on me several times, rebooting at seemingly random intrevals. I’ll have to bring it back to Tesla to diagnose. I drove it without having any controls other than drive/reverse/neutral, and the turn signals until it rebooted itself.

Overall, it’s a very fun and innovative car. The technology never ceases to amaze me, and never failed to put a smile on my face driving it around. But the world has a long way to come before fully electric cars will be the norm. For now gasoline or plug-in hybrids are the best way to go for the money, IMO.

Sounds like a death trap to me. And plug in hybrids? Also I don't think Tesla has anything here aside from people's houses

Plug in hybrid like a Chevy Volt...plugs into the wall like an appliance to charge. Probably makes for a killer electric bill.

Never heard of a plug-in Hybrid? Cars like the Chrysler Pacifica, Audi A3, Mitsubishi Outlander, just to name a few.

I’m not supporting Tesla or defending them at all. I’m happy with my truck, I don’t think I’ll ever buy one unless they’re dirt cheap.

Tesla is a lot like Apple. Limited convenience, repair monopoly, but look at them now.

I’m an Apple shill. The best laptop I’ve ever owned is my 2012 MacBook Pro. It’s lasted longer than any windows machine I’ve ever had. That being said I did upgrade it with a good SSD and a RAM kit. That was the last generation of MacBook that was good in my opinion. Now it’s all proprietary and you can’t upgrade anything. Which is why I’m so hesitant to upgrade to a new laptop.

I’ve had almost every iPhone since the 3GS and I can’t bring myself to switch. Their ecosystem has me hooked. It’s too convenient. iMessage, their cloud integration, etc. I’m the kind of person who can benefit from the functionality of an Android, but I prefer the iPhone because of how dumb simple and easy to use it is.

I like Tesla. They’re doing a good thing to the car industry. Competition is always a good thing.

I don’t know if I should take offense or not to that.
