I very much agree with you. Apple computers just went to shit the last couple years. Apple started as a damn computer company, they had their own server line (xServe) and printer line at one point. Now their profit (and focus) comes from their iPhone and iTunes market.

I’ll keep fixing this 2012 MacBook until there’s nothing left to replace. So far all I’ve replaced that has broken is the keyboard. It lasted me through Junior High, High School, and hopefully through College.

Phones are weird. I had an LG before this Samsung and for less than a year because it kept failing (would reboot over and over randomly). Sometimes I think phones are a crapshoot. Except when it comes to iPhones, I'll never own one because I don't know anyone that's had one for a long time without major issues. Plugs they seem to be as fragile as eggs

 

Hot damn, haha. Some of the only OG channels I still watch that’s been around since the beginning is the Angry Video Game Nerd. All the other ones died, gave up, or become a corporate shill. Honorable mention to Nigahiga, KevJumba, Smosh, Charles Trippy, and Jogwheel (Is it a Good Idea to Microwave This)

My favorite YT user back in the day was KipKay. He’d make great DIY videos on his channel all the time. Now all he does is ads and sponsorships and sub-par uninnovative videos. He got me into electronics.

That’s how most of these YouTube channels ended up. Sad really.

 

I had a whole talk about this, haha. It’s called Planned Obsolescence. Apple isn’t the only one guilty of this.

Nice thing about the car industry is that there is legislation behind protecting the consumer against planned obsolescence. Consumer electronics don’t have the same protection.

 

Got that right. Can't upgrade any more via phone plan...gotta buy them outright or pay monthly which I haven't had to do since my current phone is 4 years old and I got it as an upgrade. I actually might try LG again next since they have less expensive phone options, at least with Sprint.

 

Well my Samsung is old as balls as far as phones go...but it is starting to act up every now and then. But 4 years for a phone is a good run imo

 

I've been watching since YouTube's beginning in 2005, seen a lot of good channels die. You're probably too young to remember Davidsfarm, but it was a Canadian dude that lives on a huge property and built junkers to beat up and race on the property. Think he was busted for some sort of porn scandal or something, this was a long time ago. Anyway, kinda makes Jogwheel died there's only so much one can microwave and their other stuff was boring. The jorey Caron laboratory will live on in spirit.

 

My dad had this old Motorola flip phone that lasted like, god, at least 10 years. Company finally bought him an iPhone to use after the contract expired.

 

This is something, especially in your state, you must continually fight for. The auto industry wants to make it illegal and has bought politicians before, look at the whole John Deere fiasco if you want context.

 

JogWheel (or Jpizzle1122) was the channel that I grew up with. I’d watch their content (and Jory, Riley, and Jon’s personal content) almost every day. That was my go to channel time and time again.

If you ever watched Jory’s mail vlogs on his channel, you might see some of the letters and packages I sent him.

The retirement of the microwave show is what led to the channel’s demise. Movie Night was a great series, but Jon got married and the channel slowly died out. Jory kept me going for a few years, then he gave up on his channel. Don’t know what happened to Riley.

I still watch Jon’s videos. He makes an effort to post something every now and then, his recent one is pretty funny.

What the hell happened to anti-trust laws, haha. Soon we’ll just have one giant telecom company to rule the world.
