I’m an OEM heathen for parts on my truck. I’ve only used RockAuto once to buy some stuff for a Jeep ZJ I worked on last summer.

I'm not an OEM nazi, only for certain things. I haven't bought a whole lot from them. My last orders from them were for O2 sensor, spark plugs & wires, headlights, stuff like that, minor maintenance parts so to speak. What I would say is major maintenance parts is timing belt, water pump, tensioner/idler pulleys, etc which I used OEM. Radiator I went aftermarket but radiator hoses & thermostat I used OEM.

Radiator hoses I don't mind aftermarket but when there's only shit quality for a certain vehicle I'll go OEM. My original radiator hoses lasted for 215K mi so I figured why not go with OEM. Even then they were still good, just swelled up. I know a local Toyota parts guy so I get a discount anyway.

But thermostats, while aftermarket one work ok, the quality on them is so damn cheesy compared to OEM. So I use OEM but I'm not using the stock one for the 5VZ.

Nasty leak on the passenger side VCG towards the rear. Had them replaced back in June of 2014. Driver side is fine, no leaks. Passenger side is bad. Saw someone mentioning checking the torque on the bolts and it was fine after re-torquing.

Whats the consensus on re-torquing? Just replace them or cant hurt to re-torque as long as I'm careful.

I was all set to order parts and take it back to the guy who did the work last time but now debating on going elsewhere.

Yeah the rubber washers can shrink causing them to not hold the same clamping force. Use a torque wrench if you're not comfortable with snugging them up by feel, I believe the spec is 53 inch pounds.

Try to retorque chances are that’s the only problem. Passenger side is the easier side to do. Shouldn’t take more than a couple hours if your slow

Doing a search on this now and I just saw your post from October... lol.

yep, 53 in lbs. I'll take a look in the morning.

So far, based on Tim's vid and info here, I've spec'd this out using CamelBack online prices - already had some of these parts and
as for the injectors figured might as well replace them since it'd be apart anyway.

Definitely and thanks for the info. Now just to figure out how many there are... Wonder if I just do those 3 visible in the picture if that would be enough or if everything has to come off and do all of them. The leaking seems to be just on that rear quarter.

Passenger side should be easy enough to retorque all of the bolts.

What bugs me about this, guy I had replace them in 2014 - really decent guy, known him forever. Lives a few houses down, ASE Master Certified, been in the business 20+ years, etc. When I mentioned maybe trying to do the change myself, he says - 'be careful with the bolts. Can't use a torque wrench, not precise enough. I go by feel on those.'

Maybe that's why its leaking (?)

Eh. Unlikely. Probably just because of the rubber washers
