Yeah it's in R4. It's really antiquated and the piggyback is basically a relic from the 90s but in a lot of ways the truck is too

Not yet, I'm getting close to doing it though...another member on here with the same setup/truck as me (except auto trans) was having similar ping issues as me under the same conditions and he customized his and sent me the file, so when I finally get around to doing it I'll have a good place to start.

Always nice to have a good starting point. You'll probably have to tweak a bit but maybe not a ton, autos usually spread the ping out across a wider range because they linger in gears you wouldn't with your manual.

Probably not worth it if he's already fighting a lot of ping. The porting and polishing on such a minuscule supercharger like that Eaton m62 doesn't increase pressure it increases pressure response. So essentially it would go to full boost faster and it would probably freak the computer out even more.

That's actually the big danger of a supercharger and why you see people with turbos can usually get away without a tune on low boost. It's not the boost it's where the boost occurs. a supercharger can turn on and off its boost just by the flip of the bypass valve. If it comes in at low RPM it comes in all the way you get 7 PSI instantaneously. where is the turbo would have to spool through that area likely not making any boost until the computer it has had time to compensate and even then it's slowly builds its boost up until it's full pressure

Given where he is and his thin air I would say it probably is worth it. Down at your elevation and my elevation and our heat it would likely be ping City if it weren't for his fmu and methanol injection.

I'd actually really like to know what the rising rate of the fmu that @1997tacomav6 has in his truck. It likely plays a huge role in his SC setup working. It forces his injectors to flow more per % of duty cycle

I am debating porting mine. I’ve also thought about seeing if coolant can be ran through the body.. I know they do that to some super chargers to combat heatsoak. But I don’t know if there’s enough meat to do it

Yeah you can do it no matter what. It's all about what sensor wires you choose to make available to the stock computer you just need to fool it into thinking everything's okay so it continues managing stupid stuff like emissions

2nd been Tacoma superchargers have intercoolers but they're like twice the overall size of ours lol. I thought I saw a pic on here once of someone that modified an intercooler onto their 1st gen Tacoma blower, it looked ugly but it worked from what I remember. Probably a lot of work though

This is why methanol injection has such a huge appeal for these styles of superchargers in particular. It cools every part of it beginning right where it counts at the intake tract and inside the rotor casing.

yeah and much easier/cheaper than trying to modify an intercooler onto one I bet
