My other iron uses a sponge stand too, I just don't like cleaning it and it doesn't scrape the tip that well.

Just like the old days, I remember messing with the carb on the old 40 back in mid 90s to get it below certain rpm but rich enough to pass lmao. It's a 76 so still had emissions laws, that's crazy to think it's been over 20 years

Yeah, it's a full MPFI system, super modern for 1984. It's basically unchanged up to 1998 or so

It's a pretty solid system, not too many sensors to break. Cam and crank position are derived through an optical pickup in the dizzy base. The throttle position is only to determine the idle point, the cold weather idle up is controlled much like the engine thermostat and closes high idle when it's warm. The fueling system is fully tunable, so you can mess with it all you want and the computer runs out of turning range somewhere around 700hp. The MAF is the most breakable thing and it hides out of the path of heat which is smart, even the engine temp probe goes into a blind hole in the head so it never gets coolant fouled. Has a fuel temp sensor too but bear as I can tell in the tuning software it doesn't do anything.
