Yeah, that's an interesting one. If the solenoid on the starter shorted it could have only happened when she cranked the key really, she'd have known it was fubar when it didn't stop cranking. The interior switch could do the same thing and in theory at any time, but it's kinda uncommon. I'd want a second opinion if they didn't sound sure or it could be a pretty big fire hazard.

 

Yeah she told me the AAA guy told her she was lucky it didn't catch on fire. The ground wire melted bad and there's a quarter sized burn mark on the firewall where it was grounded to.

 

Hell yeah the solenoid was engaged non stop then. The question is why?

Any of you gentlemen have tire recommendations for performance tires on a car?

 

Awesome sacrificial ground wire did it's job. Saved the rest of the harness, hopefully.

Eh, the G force looks okay but has pretty meh reviews, the other tire they have is just a rehash of a 70s design so you can have that retro look on your old muscle car or whatever.

 

Only drifters use falkens

 

Yeah it's the angle of the photo. I can zoom in on it in my phone and its all good. Yeah I think that's what the backspacing is

Edit: they are the 4.5 backspacing. And I sold my 04 :/

Nah, 235/45/17

 

Idk if they have this size but Continental extreme contact is suppose to be a good tire

 

You know I've never run a Continental tire. I'll have to price em out, this is sorta a weird tire size, but I calculated it to be ideal for the car

 

235/45/17 sounds wired and hard to find. 225 or 245 seems easier.

But when I think performance tires I think Continental, Perelli, and dunlop as the brands to look at.

You arnt runner low pros so high rating to get stiff side walls isn’t really needed. Which makes the tire selection a little more bigger

 

225s wouldnt be too bad but then I make it weird by stepping up to a 50 aspect ratio 245 would be okay I guess, could probably fit fine in the front too, I could always stagger, and run 225/45/17 in the front and 245/40/17 in the rear, but I can't rotate then. I'm not making massive HP or anything right now, just want the stability of a decent tire in a turn so I figured the 235 would be a nice middle ground and it ends up being the right diameter for the car.
