Ouuuu are we talking about cameras now?

I have a Nikon D5200 and a Manfrotto Tripod. Luckily I haven’t fell into the lens purchasing obceession so I only have the telephoto and standard lens that the bundle came with.

I used to do a lot of event shooting. Concerts, assemblies, theatre productions, etc. I actually purchased a ProAm USA 12” Camera Crane to do these events with. I love that thing to death, but I haven’t touched it in years.

That trail isnt too difficult. The only section that is, he had t reached yet. Looks like he took a horrible line and learned an expensive lesson. You can see the pics in the san diego bs thread. Dude had stock tires. So maybe had little to no offroading experience is my guess.

Quality glass is more important than the camera body it's attached to. Buy a decent camera body but the lenses is where you really want to put your money.

For events you want a solid fast lens with zoom...a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 would be ideal IMO. Run about $1800 new last I checked.
Maybe closer to $1300 now that I think about it...either way not cheap but very worth it.

No worries. I'm a crappy photographer compared to my wheeling buddies as you all know well haha. I like my T4i and it can take a great picture but I kinda want to slim down to a mirrorless cam again, and the M5 can use my existing glass if need be.

Just a comparison between photos I've taken with my T4i vs with my roommates M5.

I bought the wrong camera for what I do. It’s a great photo camera, but recording is a pain. When I have DSLR hanging precariously 10 feet in the air, there’s no way to adjust the zoom.

I wanted a Canon XL2 for years, then realized Mini-DV is dead so I started looking at the Canon XH-A1. Best part about it is the power zoom. I’m very familiar with the XH-A1, I used to announce football game broadcasts and film with the XH-A1 on off days.

I haven’t done an event in years so I get by with my DSLR.

Oooh that welding shot is sick, I have some images of a friend of mine blowing glass to make pipes and they're awesome. Fire and sparks make for great photos haha.

Oooh you mean video more than photos? I'm not to keen on video...I do some short product videos for my company but they're easy stuff that can be done with any ol' DSLR. Video is a whole nother ballgame I'm not that deep into.

I did football and sporting photography too. I was up in the press box so I was using my telephoto lens with a fast af shutter speed.

I wish I had a better lens for that kind of thing, then realized the photographer on the field was using a $10k actual two foot telescope lens.

This thread can be turned on to any topic at any time, that's the beauty of the lunchtable.

What I find kind of funny is that we are exclusively a 1st gen member thread...most BS threads on this forum are populated by all gens no matter which subforum its in. I don't mind TBH
